In this role, you will serve as a consumer insights expert to the company. You will act as a consultant to the organization to facilitate data- and consumer-driven decisions through consumer research and analytical best practices. You will work on projects of complex scope with enterprise and strategic implications. You are able to synthesize disparate consumer research and analysis to create a holistic view of the consumer and act as a matrixed team leader and principle business partner, handling complex issues and competing priorities, within timelines and budgets.

Essential Functions / Principal Responsibilities

  • Design and lead complex consumer research projects and analysis, to inform brand, creative, product, customer experience research, innovation, etc.

  • Run all aspects of research, at times as a matrixed leader overseeing team in survey instrument design, sample management, fielding, analysis of data, and reporting.

  • Provide insights needed for development of consumer-driven positioning, value propositions, messaging, product development, innovation, service and claims enhancements, etc.

  • Consult with stakeholders across the company and with Club Partners to ensure consumer research needs are met, data is shared, and implications are understood.

  • Lead external research partners to complete studies cost effectively.

  • Research and recommend new vendors and methodologies by keeping informed of industry trends and resources.

  • Develop new ways of generating and sharing consumer insights across the company to improve adoption, processes, and efficiency.

  • Act as matrixed leader with internal clients and mentor to research and insights team.

  • Develop and present research reports across the company.

  • Manage budget variance explanations and re-forecasts.

  • Manage ad-hoc projects as needed across the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Highly developed consumer research expertise (qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary), including research design, survey instrument development, sampling, QA, analysis, and reporting.

  • Ability to apply advanced concepts, techniques, and applications to meet objectives.

  • Ability to collaborate and influence business partners to influence decision-making and outcomes and to resolve issues.

  • Ability to generate consumer insights that enable the organization to appropriately balance company and member needs.

  • Ability to manage complex issues by applying strong judgment, creativity, and technical know-how.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret consumer data to create and present compelling actionable insights to leaders across the organization.

  • Proficiency in research programming and analytical software (i.e., SPSS, SAS, Qualtrics, Confirmit, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Able to make connections across consumer research studies, data, analyses; and across the company.

  • Knowledge of agile, design thinking, and lean research and innovation practices.

  • Knowledge of advanced techniques such as Conjoint, Max Diff, Driver analysis, regression, Kano, segmentation, etc.

Education, Work Experience, Licenses & Certifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years' experience planning and executing research and analyzing data to generate consumer insights
  • B2B and B2C marketing experience

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related field (MBA, Psychology, Sociology, Research, Statistics)

  • Experience at a consumer research company

  • Experience running complex, cross-functional team projects

  • Combination of Insurance industry and other industry experience

  • Education or experience in Customer Experience

  • Moderating experience
