The Consumer Data Privacy Senior Director is responsible for leading all aspects of defining, creating, implementing and driving Cox Automotives centralized strategy regarding how to most effectively be a successful data solutions provider as web browsing technologies look to protect consumer privacy (e.g. migrate away from utilizing 3rd party cookies).
The Senior Director will serve as a subject matter expert on trends in the market around consumer identity strategies and will facilitate development of a shared point of view within Cox Automotive on how we should best respond to a changing market. The role will focus on Cox Autos domestic businesses. Candidate should have ability to lead and influence others by acting as a strategic partner to business leaders. The position demands frequent interaction with all levels of the organization, both in business unit itself and within corporate. The ideal candidate is curious, connected, courageous, objective, organized, detail-oriented, team-oriented and highly motivated.
PRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Monitor and understand how shifts in the Consumer Privacy landscape will impact Consumer Data Strategys plans. This includes positions from major web browsing and mobile platform technology companies (e.g. IDFA Deprecation, Chrome 3rd Party Cookie Deprecation). Be acutely informed on product direction and timing for applicable technologies from companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft etc.

  • Monitor and understand how shifts in the Consumer Privacy landscape will impact Consumer Data Strategys plans. Examples: IOS15, IDFA Deprecation. Chrome 3rd Party Cookie Deprecation. And recommendations for how to mitigate risk.

  • Identify how other market leaders are successfully responding to changes in consumer identity resolution and provide summaries of these competitive successes back to Cox Automotive product group leaders.

  • Establish oneself as the main business contact for Cox Automotives strategy around consumer identity resolution, now and in the future. Become the go-to resource for senior business leaders (e.g. Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents) and product leaders (e.g. Associate Vice Presidents, Senior Directors, Directors) alike for Cox Automotives market direction in this area (over $1B in annual revenue is affected by Cox Automotive solutions that utilize various forms of consumer identity resolution).

  • Continually understand how our terms and conditions with clients as well as EULAs on major consumer sites impact our ability to maximize use of data collected in our products and make suggestions on how refined terms and conditions could benefit our future product innovations.

  • Lead specific initiatives, as applicable, that drive Cox Automotive to transform our advertising and data solutions businesses as rules on consumer identity resolution on major platforms (e.g. Apple iOS, Google Chrome etc.) change.

  • Partner with Data Product Management team to ensure the Cox Automotive strategy around consumer identity resolution in the future is incorporated into product roadmaps. Also, work with Data Product Management to ensure Cox Automotives technology solutions are successfully updated to best compete as rule changes are implemented.

  • Partner with Corporate Strategy to make them aware of nuances of the changing landscape to make sure they understand Cox Automotives Data Strategy in this area so that it can be incorporated into the business strategy of key parts of our business such as our Consumer Solutions offerings.

  • Understand available technology partners that Cox Automotive might need to partner with in the medium to long-term in order to be successful as a data solutions provider to advertisers as changes are implemented around consumer identity resolution. Connect with these partners and in collaboration with Data Product Management, develop a partnership strategy in areas such as signal collection, identity resiliency and activation resiliency where Cox Auto might use partners to augment our capabilities.
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree and 12+ years of increasing and relevant experience in business strategy or strategy, management consulting, process implementation and/or related functions, or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of leadership experience

  • Demonstrated advanced strategic and analytical skills and business acumen, evidenced by a proven track record in successfully developing and implementing impactful, practical business/data strategies

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise around consumer data privacy, cookie-less future, zero party data etc.

  • Possesses advanced management skills to lead individuals directly and indirectly in a matrixed organization

  • Proven track record of mastered execution and project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Proven leadership skills in a global matrix environment, evidenced by obtaining results through cross-functional, cross-business unit efforts across different geographies and cultures

  • Previous experience leading teams of senior professionals in related fields

  • Track record of success establishing buy-in for ideas across functions and business units

  • Strong ability to influence

  • Passion for storytelling, developing concepts for fresh ideas, and translating market insights into compelling pitches.
