The global VMware Professional Services Organization influences the success of each VMware implementation. The Professional Services team is dedicated to the success of the customer and their digital strategy. The Professional Services team ensures that VMware customers are successfully implementing their business plans from adoption all the way to a fully functioning solution.

The Senior Consultant is an advanced level technology specialist and subject matter expert, providing customer guidance by facilitating technical workshops, creation of low-level designs and implementation of use cases into high-quality solutions. In addition to customer facing delivery Senior Consultants also provide technical input to pre-sales and drive best practices in the form of white paper creation.

  • Assist/lead the development of architecture blueprints, design specifications, migration plans and operational best practices guidelines based on detailed requirements gathered onsite

  • Lead the definition and design of VMware Network Virtualization products and partner ecosystem solutions, following through to installation, configuration, and testing

  • Provide technical leadership to VMware consulting project teams, which will include project work at customer sites

  • Maintain current knowledge of multiple areas of VMware solutions and relevant security aspects

  • Participate in the pre-sales process to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements, to develop effective solutions

  • Maintain current knowledge of multiple areas of VMware solutions and relevant security aspects

  • Lead/deliver technical enablement web conferences, services delivery training events and labs at industry events such as VMworld

  • Presentation at customer and partner opportunities, training sessions and venues

  • Active and regular participation in knowledge management/capture activities

  • Work as part of a wider project team or independently act as technical lead on consulting engagements.

  • Actively demonstrate commercial awareness and stay within the scope of the contracted work.

  • Take ownership and accountability for individual deliverables.

  • Make accurate impact assessments, and raise, implement, close down and roll-back plans when required

  • Maintain current, high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware product line and future product direction and expert level knowledge of the core VMware product line and your specialist area

Ideal candidates will have a background in Data Center Network Architecture/Design, Network Security, and Virtualization.

  • 5+ years relevant experience in these subject areas with at least 5 years' experience in a consulting role

  • Leading small/medium sized technical projects and teams

  • Strong expertise in L2 Switching, L3 Routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP

  • Demonstrated experience with Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Security/Trust Zones design/architecture, Security Assessments/Evaluation

  • Consulting and/or services pre-sales experience / leadership

  • Expertise in designing architecture to meet compliance targets such as PCI and/or HIPAA

  • Network component troubleshooting expertise with:

o ASRs, enterprise-class switches and routers

o Network firewalls

o Virtual networking components

  • Experience or good understanding of any of the following cloud management systems: OpenStack, vRealize Automation, vCloud Director (vCD), VMC, vCF, Azure, GCP

  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and datacenter automation.

  • Applications are considered both from individuals currently working in the physical networking space (ie Cisco) who would like to move into the Network Virtualization and those already working within Network Virtualization.

  • Programming/scripting skills a plus (C / Unix shell, REST API, PowerShell)

  • Must be able to travel up to 75% nationally, working from customer sites

Certifications and Education

  • CCDP, CCNP, CISSP, VCP-NV or similar required. Ideally you hold a CCIE or VCDX-NV certification.
  • B.S./B.A./M.S. degree or equivalent technical training

Desirable skills and experience

  • Project governance experience and familiarity with PRINCE2, PMP or TOGAF frameworks

  • Practical knowledge of the ITIL framework

The Data Analytics Senior Consultant role will be required to execute analytical projects working closely with senior stakeholders and clients to deliver value to financial institution clients. They will be required to both lead junior analysts and work independently on these engagements. They will apply statistics, data profiling techniques, machine-learning techniques primarily to projects in the financial crime domain and therefore need a strong understanding of anti-money laundering and the banking industry. They will have experience and knowledge of analytical techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, and naïve bayes, nearest neighbors, LVQ, SVM, and random forest. They will also have experience of and understand model validation. They will have a strong client delivery focus and will also work with our Consulting practice leaders to identify and pursue new target clients, build long term business relationships, grow opportunities within strategic geographies and develop analytic solutions for our financial services clients. Additionally, this individual will also support recruitment and development of a team of well-rounded analytics professionals focused on delivering best-in-class analytics solutions.
