Senior Consultant, Plumbing Engineer

WSP USA's Plumbing Engineers coordinate closely with professionals from other disciplines around the world working on high-profile national and international projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. You will participate in the full project cycle, from the concept design phase through the final construction close-out.

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Apply engineering design techniques under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer

  • Prepare contract drawings using Revit and/or AutoCAD software

  • Develop plumbing and fire protection system concepts

  • Design plumbing and fire protection systems

  • Develop and manage high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals

  • Answer project specific FRI and submittals timely


  • Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and safety code requirements

  • Survey and evaluate existing conditions

  • Interpret building code requirements

  • Perform tasks related to construction administration

  • Prepare proposal documents, specifications, and reports


  • Attend and participate in team and/or project meetings

  • Coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners

  • Propose creative solutions to complex problems as part of a team

  • Interface with clients as needed

  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Other duties as required by business needs

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent

  • 5 to 7 years of experience

  • Highly skilled in ability to use Revit 15 (or later) or AutoCAD 14 (or later)

  • Ability to utilize innovative analytical techniques in solving technical problems

  • Attention to detail and highly organized

  • Experience in designing plumbing and fire protection systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to contribute and interact well with others on a team

Preferred Qualifications or "Great to Haves" include:

  • E.I.T. Certification

  • LEED AP Certification

  • Essential License (e.g. P.E.), as applicable

  • Member of and actively participates in local professional practice organizations including attending meetings/lectures

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
