What will your role be?

You will deliver solutions that enable our customers to accelerate their scientific research. Your projects will be in a diversity of companies.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

The challenges ahead

  • Understand customer business requirements, scenarios, use cases, users experience needs.

  • Understand the technical specification requirements as reported by Software Architect and translate them into detailed technical specifications.

  • Evaluate costs (man/days), manage activities in order to ensure deliveries deadlines, report project status to the Project Manager.

  • Understand the software system design, describe the specifications in technical terms: select the algorithms, theories or technologies that will be used. Plan the appropriate user interface. Identify and manage dependencies with other components. Document these selections in the detailed technical specifications.

  • Develop code functions and unitary tests in respect of quality rules defined by the Software Architect.

  • Write operation guides explaining deployment of software components.

  • Analyze and correct reported issues and/or execute software changes required by the customer aligned with R&D strategies.

  • Capitalize on project deliverables to ensure reusability.

  • Excellent expertise in business analysis and software engineering with a desire to coach others

  • Good commercial understanding

  • Understanding the workflows and challenges faced by our customers based in the areas of life and/or physical sciences.

  • Ability to communicate with PhD scientists in industry specific terminologies and demonstrate the ability to translate these customer needs into technical and functional software requirements

  • Fluent written and spoken English required

  • Experience in software engineering and scientific (IT) domains, e.g. bio-informatics, chemo-informatics, statistics

  • Ideal candidates will have a broad knowledge of web based application development including REST, AngularJS, Ajax, Oracle Database

  • Preference for candidates with experience building applications using BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in one of the following disciplines is required

  • Chemistry, Biology, Information Systems, Computer Science

  • 5+ years of relevant experience including substantial track record of successful implementation of complex enterprise and custom solution development and deployment

  • Open to Travelling up to 50%
