The candidate will require effective communication skills and knowledge of the engineering, construction and commissioning phases of projects utilizing both design build and traditional project delivery platforms. The effective execution of this role will include support of both senior project management as well as field construction delivery forces to support and expedite the installation operations. Efforts during the pre-construction phase will include engineering document and submittal review, value engineering, procurement and schedule development. During the field delivery phase support in the areas of schedule development/maintenance, progress tracking, document control, RFI tracking/resolution, change management support, cost control, subcontractor coordination and engineering conflict resolution. Aspects of the role during the commission and start-up phase of the project will require equipment supplier interface and coordination, start-up plan development and final turnover documentation. The successful candidate will be based at both regional offices and field sites during the execution of their respective role.
This role will support a wide range of tasks during the overall life cycle of a project; Primary focus will be on delivering municipal water/wastewater and water resources project solutions to both existing and new clients. The successful candidate will work closely with the local operations delivery lead, and associated project management and technical staff.
Primary responsibilities to include:
Support project design teams
Develop and maintain project schedules associated with preliminary planning and fully developed construction schedules utilized during the delivery phase of the project
Establish and maintain document control processes to manage project correspondence during all phases of the project
Support procurement activities associated with both materials of construction and labor subcontracts required during the pre-construction planning phase of the project
Engineering support including technical document interpretation, conflict resolution and value engineering support
Provide project controls support in maintaining work progress trending, cost control and change management
Establish and maintain RFI, as-built documents and submittal tracking logs
Support in development and maintenance of management reporting to both internal and external clients
Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 12 years' experience in a combination of traditional and design build project delivery environments.
Proven field experience in coordination of the primary responsibilities essential to the position.
Proven track record of successfully supporting water/wastewater traditional and design build projects.
Excellent computer skills and the use of software including but not limited to Excel, Word, Primavera Tools, AutoCAD, GIS and database management tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the implementation of the daily execution of key functions while coordinating with engineering, field management and building trade staff
Flexibility in geography as related to office and/or project site location, with ability to relocate as needed
BS degree, MS degree preferable, in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Candidates without an engineering degree but possessing significant construction management experience will be considered as well
PE and/or CCM preferable but not required
Valid driver's license and good driving record required
Ability to walk slowly around construction sites of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs
Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
Ability to wear required safety equipment (PPE) as needed
