We are seeking Sr. Construction Managers to join our Energy division in support of a large electric utilities Corporate Real Estate division. In this role you will be onsite managing all aspects of the project, ensure quality control measures are met, submittals, RFIs evaluate environmental remediation work on the project, and ensure operations are managed in accordance with the predetermined timeline, budget and within the scope of the contract. This position requires excellent communication skills, technical background and experience managing ground up building projects and tenant improvement projects

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct all aspects of execution for construction projects in accordance with the scope of the contract, including pre-bid and proposal preparations, project start up, contract management, cost forecasting, change order review and negotiations

  • Collect information using project control tools to show daily project status, compile information weekly and coordinate monthly project status reports to communicate progress

  • Establish and maintain effective client relationships to achieve active cooperation, prompt payment and additional work opportunities

  • Resolve issues and solve problems that arise throughout the duration of the project to mitigate risk and ensure safety

  • Lead and coach project teams on a proactive basis; provide direct oversight of the team and maintain all project requirements for safety, quality, productivity throughout the duration of the project

  • Facilitate project meetings and coordinate activities of internal/external workgroups in the implementation of major projects including modernizations and ground up construction

  • Monitor construction progress and identify/address risks that may affect timely project completion. Implement effective scope controls, monitor capital expenditures, and maintain accurate project forecasts.

  • Ensure timely submittal and approval of change orders while mitigating impacts to the project.

  • Communicate project updates via regular stakeholder meetings and electronic communications.

  • Ensure monthly updates to the Client Management team achieves effective corporate awareness and accurately reports project status/financials.

  • Compile performance data to prepare project post-completion reports and describe lessons learned.

  • Complete constructability and design review of all drawings related to the project scope.

  • Coordinate with all agency assigned 3rd party engineers for specialty design reviews (Geotechnical, Structural, etc.)

  • Review and coordinate all contractor Submittals related to the project.

  • Review and respond to all RFIs related to the project.

  • Provide a complete schedule review to check the accuracy of CPM baseline logic, critical path activities, activity float durations, etc.

  • Attend project specific meetings as requested by agencies (weekly construction, bi-weekly team, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • 8-10 years of experience managing construction projects related to buildings and tenant improvement projects

  • Bachelors degree in Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent related combination of education and work experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certificate highly desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Project. Knowledge of and experience using Primavera (P6) software is a plus

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with little or no direct supervision in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to manage large and complex projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Comprehensive understanding and application of project management principles, processes, and procedures.

  • Proficient leadership skills, including effective conflict management and influencing.

  • Thorough knowledge of utility scale construction projects, including feasibility, estimating, and scheduling.
