As an Senior Construction Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundation technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, XBOX, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.  Empower Billions!

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) business is critical to delivering on this mission and vision, building and operating Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, which is growing rapidly in response to unprecedented demand for Microsoft services. CO+I operates one of the largest cloud networks on the planet - comprised of more than 160 Datacenters, 130+ edge sites, 2+ million miles of fiber, and millions of servers and network and storage devices.

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team is seeking an Senior Construction EHS Manager to drive value across complex supplier relationships and demonstrated experience in supplier management. Analytical skills, using data to design processes that scale, collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, and the drive to continuously improve and achieve business objectives will be critical to success in this role.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 25%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 6+ years experience in Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) OR Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation.

  • 6+ years of experience in EHS construction management specific to Data Center Deployment.

  • Experience developing and implementing successful safety programs inclusive of OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 12+ years Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 8+ years Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Internationally recognized safety and health certifications.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Subject Matter Expertise within the following areas:

  • Electrical Safety, Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout), Occupational Noise Control, Exposure Assessment (Industrial Hygiene), Emergency Response Planning, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Heavy Material Handling, Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts), Cranes/Rigging, Trenching & Excavation, Fire/Life Safety, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Hazardous Substances Handling, Waste Management, Emergency response plans, Risk assessment and hazard mitigation, Permit to Work processes, Root Cause Analysis, High Risk Activity Management.

Environmental Health & Safety IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and assesses critical risks to environmental health and safety for Microsoft employees, and deployment of a standardized framework for services.

  • Owns and maintains relationships and drives coordination with key stakeholders to continually improve processes and specifications by developing solutions.

  • Participates and presents content in regional industry groups, public forums, authorities, and customer events to represent Microsoft, subject to approval.

  • Communicates and recommends Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) solutions and best practices implemented by Microsoft.

  • Facilitates showcases to inform and explain the best-in-class solutions. Contributes to responses to regulatory and other external inquiries.

  • Creates content for internal and external training on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and best practices.

  • Leads stakeholder teams to implement and helps establish a communication framework to educate and build internal and external awareness of EHS.

  • Leads facilitation of training for internal and external teams as required (e.g., emergency response and hazardous materials handling, management of compliance programs for EHS).

  • Monitors relevant Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) legislation and regulatory requirements and standards relevant to construction and operations.

  • Maintains and monitors safety equipment inventory and hazardous waste

  • Leads facilitation of periodic safety inspections. Reviews materials, substances, and regulatory declarations to ensure compliance with Microsoft and industry regulatory EHS requirements.

  • Interprets analyses reports and manages documentation of the environmental, health, and safety impact on facilities.

  • May ensure and/or conduct testing, monitoring, or sampling (e.g., noise, audiometric, chemical, area sampling) and guides team members.

  • Identifies ways to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and usefulness of these assessments.

  • May ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated to manufacturer's requirements.

  • Completes, reviews, and submits required country/state/province notifications, declarations, and reports documenting the compliance and guides team members.

  • May ensure fees are paid and/or pay and report dues/fees to the government associated with legislation related to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).

  • Implements, provides, and develops written Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements for teams and stakeholders.

  • Communicates EHS checklists and notifications to stakeholders regarding requirements via cross-functional projects and specifications.
