Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • At least 15 years of civil engineering design or oversight experience in major transportation related projects.

  • Experience with oversight of construction, especially with design-build, a plus.

  • Experience of completing review and providing appropriate comments on submittals of various types, including:

  • Civil site works

  • Estimates and schedules

  • Installation and Construction Work Plans

  • Payment applications

  • Self-motivated and managing, requiring minimal supervision

  • Must have experience with rail and transit projects

  • Ability to work with others and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively

  • Experience in design and installation of civil site and transportation, including transit, improvements.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve field problems expeditiously to minimize delays and claims.

  • Demonstrated ability to expeditiously negotiate contract change orders including estimating work related to signaling systems

  • Ability to monitor multiple contractors working simultaneously on a single project.

Job Description

Mott MacDonald, a leader in transportation is hiring for a senior construction engineer in our Seattle office. The professional will be added to our project teams and will be responsible for providing civil engineering oversight, including the coordination and review of various civil related submittals and resolution of design issues for local transit projects.

Other responsibilities will include the following:

  • On-site and off-site construction support functions'

  • Managing contractors and vendors associated with construction, installation, and procurement activities throughout the duration of the project to ensure compliance to all work standards and policies.

  • Construction quality verification, interface management, and assistance with contract management tasks

  • Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects

  • Interacts with managers and supervisors to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement project activities.

  • Works closely with engineering and project team to coordinate activities.
