Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

Deliver significant improvements in product reliability, manufacturability, capacity, serviceability, and cost for robotic surgical systems. Provide team leadership for component engineering and product configuration functions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Establish corporate policies around component engineering functions, review of ECOs and new part creation. Establish requirements for product documentation infrastructure tools/software and champion the implementation.

  • Ownership of component level specifications. Lead initiatives focused on product BOM structure and component documentation accuracy.

  • Provide technical expertise and resource to operations teams to maintain production goals. Identify, qualify, document and introduce replacement or alternate sources of electronic and mechanical components in timely manner in production assembly/test fixtures. Able to use SiliconExpert or similar tools.

  • Provide component engineering services for selection and analysis of components to various engineering teams. Provide change order services to manufacturing engineering group to support implementation of changes on released products

  • Develop and maintain material safety stock program, EOL and PCN change processes, RoHS compliance program. Lead cross-functional meetings to provide organizational visibility and drive projects associated with such activities.

  • Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, product development, planning, purchasing, regulatory, inspection, and customer support organizations.

  • Negotiate for needed resources from other teams to enable project success as needed.

  • Provide technical support for Material Review Board (MRB) to ensure discrepant material is processed efficiently.

  • Provide technical support for failure analysis and root cause investigation of product failures in partnership with manufacturing/quality/supplier engineering.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. EE, ME) from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a manufacturing engineering / component engineering role

  • Minimum 2 years as a leader of cross-functional, technical personnel in a fast paced environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of electromechanical assemblies, product BOM structures and component engineering functions

  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with suppliers to solve component issues

  • Fluent in document control concepts

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum MS degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. EE, ME) from an accredited university or college

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing (including GMP, MDD, ISO)

  • Demonstrated ability to represent the company to its partners, suppliers, and vendors

  • Comfortable interacting with technicians, engineers, and management

  • Experience in Just-In-Time, Demand Flow Technology, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively design experiments

  • Prior experience for process, equipment or product validation/verification

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
