Position Overview

The Senior Compensation Design Consultant uses advanced compensation expertise to evaluate, recommend, design, implement, and administer short-term incentive compensation plans, programs, policies and procedures that support achievement of business objectives, ensuring plan designs are competitive and effective, and that documentation, communications, and reporting procedures are clear, understandable, and meet legal and regulatory requirements. Oversees the Annual Compensation Process for the Global organization in support of base pay, bonus, and equity.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Madison, WI office location. The successful candidate will work onsite 2-3 days a week.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees the annual compensation process including, but not limited to, project planning, timeline adherence, system testing, as well as ensuring training and communication are completed and executed in a timeline manner. Coordinates/partners with other HR SMEs, as needed, to ensure timely and smooth implementation of cycle.

  • Research, benchmark, and analyze competitive market data and best practices for short-term and other variable compensation programs, with primary focus on broad-based non-sales incentive programs.

  • Administer and continuously evaluate short-term incentive compensation programs, ensuring effectiveness and compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Lead the Company's efforts to harmonize global non-sales short-term incentive plans.

  • Provide thought leadership on short-term incentive program design, including emphasis on pay-for-performance across various measurement units (company, group, department, team, individual, etc.).

  • Collaborate with partners and cross-functional stakeholders across total rewards, human resources, finance, legal, business unit leadership, and external vendors as necessary to resolve issues and meet business objectives.

  • Assist in preparation for and delivery of annual and quarterly bonus payout process.

  • Lead strategy and execution of compensation data analysis and reporting, ensuring high quality service delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Lead or participate in other short-term incentive-related projects and initiatives.

  • Compensation expertise, data manipulation and analysis, and well-developed consulting skills to influence decision-makers.

  • Ability to work with very limited direction and drive foundational projects to completion in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to display complex data sets in a simple, straightforward manner to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive data.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.

  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.

  • Ability and means to travel up to 5% between Exact Sciences locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources management, industrial relations, business administration, finance, accounting, statistical analysis, social sciences, or similar discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in compensation.

  • 5+ years of experience in short-term incentive compensation design, benchmarking and/or process administration.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years of compensation experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in short-term incentive design and benchmarking in a global, publicly-traded organization.

  • Experience analyzing and integrating short-term incentive programs following mergers, acquisitions, and divestures.

  • Experience with Payfactors or similar compensation survey management technologies.

  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization software.

  • Experience with Workday Advanced Compensation.

  • Strong systems thinking, process improvement orientation, detail orientation, business acumen, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to quickly absorb and analyze complex information from a variety of sources to propose and execute solutions to business problems.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.

Salary Range:

$129,000.00 - $208,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
