What you will do:
Sterling National Bank is looking for someone to provide guidance and analysis in support of our compensation function, including stock plan administration, and market survey participation. In this position, you will be conducting analyses of jobs, hourly wages, salaries, and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of the organization's pay practices. You will also prepare the annual salary expense budget project and other cost variance analyses as well as other compensation related projects.
Consult with HR Business Partners and line managers to determine compensation related solutions; actively works to ensure compensation practices are understood and supported.
Review proposed salary adjustments for conformity to established guidelines, policies, and practices.
Audit job descriptions for content and updates/prepares job descriptions to reflect rapidly changing lines of business.
Assists in administration of annual compensation review process, including short and long term incentive calculations.
Complete and submit salary surveys and prepares analysis of results to determine company's competitive position.
Prepares annual base salary expense budget and other cost variance analyses.
Creates and maintains job codes and other relative compensation data.
Partners with HR Business Partner, Payroll, and Talent Acquisition team as needed.
Conducts studies, performs research and prepares reports as needed.
Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
Position locations - Manhattan, Long Island or Yonkers.
For this position, you must have at least 3 years of experience as a compensation professional with knowledge of current compensation practices and trends including market analysis.
Experience in financial services/banking industry preferred.
Experience working with Oracle HCM/WorkDay/PeopleSoft preferred.
Candidates with advanced degrees (Associates, Bachelor's, and/or Master's) preferred, yet a High School diploma or GED is required. Candidates with some combination of coursework and experience, or else extensive related professional experience, are eligible for consideration
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze data, draw conclusions and create presentable, understandable reports that will be used for executive decision-making
Strong agility with numbers and highly detail-oriented
Ability to take direction but also assertively exercise independent thought and judgment
Ability to perform multiple tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented and lean environment
Local travel is required, approximately 25%.
