Join our team and help make a difference! Overview As a member of the SOP, the Senior Community Outreach Worker must be a driven and creative individual.

  The Community Liaison Supervisor works with program staff, community residents, businesses, and community-based organizations of all types to implement strategies for conducting street outreach, supporting and providing resources to youth and young adults who are homeless, runaway, and/or at high risk of becoming homeless and in need of case management, immediate shelter, meals, employment, and medical and or mental health services.  The ideal candidate must have community connections. This approach will help ensure a strong connection and level of trust between the young adults, community officials, and Peer Outreach workers Job Title:

Senior Community Outreach Worker (Temporary up to one year) Reports to: Program Director DOP Locations: NYC/City Wide (Mobile Van) ( Positions Based between Harlem & Brooklyn.

Must be flexible with Travel) Hours: 15/hours weekly (Part Time) Hourly Rate $23/hour based on relevant experience. Candidates with significant relevant experience may be eligible for higher compensation. Major Duties:

Conduct outreach to the community (individually and as a team leader) to build strong relationships with young people, residents, businesses, and community groups including communities of faith and agencies providing services within the neighborhood. Provide Guidance to Outreach Workers with community needs and resources. Use engagement techniques to build a rapport with youth and young adults encountered.

Provide age-appropriate interaction with youth and young adults encountered and adhere to all agency guidelines and ethics regarding the treatment of youth and services. Screen for basic needs; provide resources, and referrals to service agencies, shelter, and drop-in centers. Provide crisis intervention as needed.

Provide and prevention to homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth and young adults on various topics; Build a network with other street outreach program workers and local drop-in centers. Assist in locating safe housing - emergency, transitional, and permanent. Maintain appropriate and relevant documentation of all contacts, efforts, and events; Be always in contact with Program Director to be accountable for the effective use of time and to receive guidance and direction.

Attend all staff meetings timely and attend other internal and external meetings as directed. Assist the Program Director with Outreach Workers, including planning daily and weekly activities for and with staff, to ensure staff are present in places and at times to be able to intervene in youth homelessness most effectively With the Program Director, organize and lead regular mobilization activities within the community, including response to, rallies, planning and coordination meetings, and public education activities. Work with the community, other outreach programs, and local law enforcement to gain information that may help assist youth homelessness.

Provide clients with support and linkages to programs and opportunities in the community (e.g., job programs, GED, drug treatment, and mentoring). Assure that the program is informed by and its staff trained in trauma-informed practice (TIP), which may include the adoption of the Sanctuary Model of TIP. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications:  High School diploma required; Valid Driver's License required; 2 years experience working with community and elected officials. 2 years experience in working with the runaway and or homeless youth/young adult population, direct experience with street outreach desirable.

Lived experience of homelessness, living at risk of homelessness or housing insecurity a plus Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not necessary. Must be able to establish working relationships with participants in need of supportive services; Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to use public transportation to travel throughout New York City; Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective Computer literate -- Knowledge of computer assessment tools, Data Base systems and Windows operating systems.

  Proficient in Excel and Word.
