The Purpose Brand agency is an award winning, full-service public relations, brand and digital content marketing firm in Chicago. Purpose Brand always puts purpose into practice making brands relevant and communities stronger. Services include media and public relations, brand strategy, content creation, web design and development, content strategy, special events, video marketing and training.

Purpose Brand seeks a dedicated Senior Community Engagement Manager to support and help build its public involvement and community engagement practice, creating opportunities for diversity, engagement, sustainability, and justice in communities across Chicago and the nation. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for advancing diversity, public involvement and have solid relationships with city aldermen, community and faith-based organizations particularly on Chicagos south and west sides. Furthermore, they will be a strong event manager and public forum leader.

Purpose Brand is currently working remotely until it is safe to return to its offices at 875 N. Michigan Avenue (formerly known as the John Hancock Building).


  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in Chicago community organizations, faith-based groups, and with alderman-particularly on the south and west side of Chicago
  • Help build the public engagement practice at Purpose Brand, teaming with real estate, environmental, transportation, and engineering firms to offer public involvement and other communications services on projects throughout Chicago and the region.
  • Coordinate a team of subject matter experts to execute the community engagement/public involvement projects, including technical experts, writers, editors, graphic artists, production experts, virtual meeting producers, etc.
  • Partner with Purpose Brand executive team to scale the business, keeping the values of Purpose Brand at the forefront as the company grows.


  • Knowledge of diversity programs which promote economic self-sufficiency among low income and underrepresented populations through entry routes into high-wage, high skill careers within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal requirements for increasing participation among women and minority-owned contractors on public capital improvement projects
  • Knowledge of proven programs to introduce youth to sector-based learning
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with industry/business partners and community-based organizations
  • At least 7 years experience in public engagement or public policy
  • Highly skilled in creating, planning, and managing in-person and virtual events and public forums
  • Experience with virtual event planning platforms like Bang the Table
  • Exceptional writing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Keen problem-solving skills and highly organize
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Bachelors Degree in a communications journalism, public relations, public policy, or other relevant area
  • Urban Planning experience a plus

VIEW JOBS 12/4/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-03-04T00:00 Overview The Senior Coordinator will be responsible for providing overall support to the Community Engagement team. Under the supervision of the Director, Community Engagement, the Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support for the Foundation's Affiliated Organizations and revenue and non-revenue generating events. Specific responsibilities of the Coordinator include developing/overseeing processes to track event participation, preparing reports and mailings, interfacing with the Foundation's IS Department to pull mailing lists, providing on-site staffing at events, serving as liaison with internal hospital services such as hospitality services, environmental services, parking, security and business services. The Senior Coordinator will take on management of events and special projects as assigned. Responsibilities * Provide organizational, logistical and administrative support to the department. The Senior Coordinator will schedule meetings, address e-mails and phone calls, interact with other foundation departments, assist staff in database management, and manage various aspects of signature events. * Serve as the liaison for select Affiliated Organizations by assisting with logistics, materials, board management, etc. * Maintain board member and event data in Raiser's Edge and provide support in updating records, tracking RSVPs and pulling RSVP reports. * Provide organizational and logistical support for designated events in the form of but not limited to mailing coordination, response tracking, volunteer coordination, seating, assisting with event set-up and working with event vendors. * Provide on-site support at signature events by working with location representatives, vendors, volunteers and staff to execute successful events. * Appropriately represent Lurie Children's at all events, tours, etc. * Assist with maintaining overall calendar of events. * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Community Engagement. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree preferred. * Minimum of 2-4 years relevant experience required. * Experience working closely with professional, donor or client constituent groups vital. * Word processing and spreadsheet knowledge required. * Experience with Raiser's Edge or other similar software. * A strong command of the English language and the ability to compose, edit and proof write language and to communicate effectively on a verbal level. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities essential. * The Senior Coordinator, Community Engagement, should have qualities of integrity, industry, and curiosity. He or she must have an energy level that ensures high quality productivity on a timely basis. He or she must be capable of exercising good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with volunteers, donors, and staff and must have patience and understanding of the needs of others. * He or she must be independent, accurate, and reliable. Must be able to perform effectively under the pressure of demanding deadlines, and work with limited supervision/instruction. * A team attitude is necessary to work with internal and external constituencies. * Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment required.
