The Communications and Community Affairs Sr. Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Communications and Community Affairs and will work to develop and executive effective communications and marketing strategies and campaigns that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand and reputation.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and implement a strategic communications plan that facilities the achievements of the company goals and objectives.

  • Partner with Director to engage as point of contact in coordinating media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization, including fielding media inquiries, facilitating media interviews, and other execution activities. Monitor media coverage.

  • Manage external vendors, consultants to ensure achievement of objectives, execution of work scope and return on investment.

  • Serve as the community ambassador for non-profit organizations of Samsung Austin Semiconductor, ensuring the company is giving back to the community in ways that provide a mutually beneficial relationship for all stakeholders

  • Support corporate citizenship programs including philanthropy, sponsorship, memberships and public affairs.

  • Lead the Samsung Gives program that engages employees in supporting the community through volunteerism, giving and other opportunities.

  • Strengthen organization's social media presence including FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram and develop new mediums.

  • Work with the department to develop, implement, and evaluate the annual marketing and communications plan and budget.

  • Track and measure results of all marketing and communications activities, report monthly analytics.

  • Research, write, and/or edit internal and external communications materials, including (but not limited to) press releases, pitches, fact sheets, newsletters, banners, emails, corporate citizenship report, Q&As, briefing materials, talking points, key messages, emails, social media posts and presentations

  • Maintain incident management processes and procedures, conduct trainings with leadership and staff, and quickly resolve issues as they arise.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to support organizational initiatives and develop materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities.

  • Shift: 1st - Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Skills and Qualifications

  • College degree

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in corporate communications/public relations in a corporate or agency environment; must have a proven track record in all aspects of securing and managing high quality/high volume media coverage

  • Exceptional writing skills (technical, creative, effective)

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of the media and news landscape, social media and emerging channels.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  • Working knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles and regional hot button issues

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive issues and crises under pressure and provide sound counsel to management

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and hard-working, with strong problem solving, creative thinking and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of management.

The Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs to communicate Hanger's business objectives, initiatives, culture, and values to its employees. This role will encompass a mix of strategy and execution with many opportunities to help focus and direct Hanger's approach for employee communications and change management. Reporting to the Vice President of Public Relations and Communications, the Internal Communications Specialist must be an experienced professional with solid writing, editing, content creation, and presentation skills. Critical to the role is the ability to communicate in a voice consistent with Hanger's executives, values and culture. Your Impact * Work collaboratively with executive management, as well as human resources, marketing, IT and other teams to develop, implement and evaluate strategic internal communication plans that support ongoing programs and change management initiatives * Drive efforts to optimize current employee communications procedures and define new, effective and efficient communication protocols for the enterprise * Create strategic culture-enhancing programs * Serve as business owner for the company's intranet, including leading content management and governance strategy, and ensuring social and other collaborative functions are optimized * Assess current efforts, and develop effective metrics for tracking the efficiency and success of internal communication programs * Provide leadership enterprise-wide with strategic internal communications counsel * Execute extensive writing and presentation projects * Provide dedicated internal communications support for company leadership and enterprise initiatives, including crafting tools such as executive communications for the senior leadership team, project-specific communications plans, including quarterly earnings, key messages/Q&As, presentation decks and other communications * Produce regular content (weekly or monthly internal news articles, email announcements, and more as necessary) to highlight progress on strategic initiatives * Research, identify, and implement new communication vehicles that effectively reach employees nationwide in various settings, from offices and clinics to warehouses and employees on the road * Assist with the production of video content for series centered around executive leaders * Provide graphic design support for key internal and external communications Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * 5 years relevant work experience within a large corporate communications environment, or similar; experience with a publicly-traded healthcare company a plus Additional Success Factors * Extensive work experience in internal communications, content creation, strategic organizational communications * Demonstrated experience with social intranet platforms and community management, and with using internal social media tools to engage employees * Experience with change management; demonstrated ability to execute communication plans that support effective large scale change initiatives * Experience with video content creation/editing and graphic design, including ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, a plus * Able to produce proofed and researched content that is clear and concise according to deadlines * Integrates with company culture; represents the organization in the highest manner possible * Ability to prioritize projects according to enterprise objectives, while exhibiting flexibility in a fast-paced, often pressured environment * Capable of understanding perspectives of multiple audiences and able to develop content focused on the specific needs of various employee types and roles * Build effective relationships as a trusted business partner * Excellent writing, proofing and editorial skills.
