Summary

The Senior Communication Specialist will be a member of the Corporate Communications team. This role will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization as a strategic business partner to create and implement communication plans, stories, and content that drive business outcomes and connects team members to MiTek's vision and mission. Additional deliverables include emails, memos/announcements, intranet and external website stories and content, presentations, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, videos, and social media. They will partner with other groups including, but not limited to: HR, Marketing, Technology Development, Customer Experience, Manufacturing, IT, and Legal & Compliance to understand business needs and initiate communication support.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

What you will do

• Develop relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to support execution of key business initiatives; with support from the Senior Manager, Internal Communications, create and implement communication plans, and measure communication effectiveness in driving business outcomes

• Create engaging, informative, and stakeholder-specific content, such as, team member and leader emails and briefings, intranet and external website content, presentations, videos, brochures and collateral, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, and content for social media and other digital channels

• Identify, research, and develop stories from around the global organization that connect team members to MiTek's mission and vision

• Maintain, update, and engage with content and team members on the company intranet, OneMiTek.com, and enterprise social network, Yammer

• Edit and proofread deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and correct grammar and spelling, and that they speak to the target stakeholders in a cohesive brand voice throughout multiple channels

• Support in-person and virtual events that connect MiTek team members, such as, global town halls, leader forums, global week of service, and internal company-wide conferences/events

Qualifications

• Bachelors Communications required or

• Bachelors Journalism required or

• Bachelors Marketing required or

• Bachelors Related Field required

• 6+ Years Experience in in strategic/corporate communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations

• Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis

• Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

Soft Skills

Ability to project manage (problem identification to concept through execution and measurement) communication initiatives in partnership with other collaborators and key stakeholders;

Excellent writing and storytelling skills with the ability to write, edit, and format multiple types of communication materials and content in a fast-paced environment;

Ability to create key relationships within an organization and a journalist's mentality and drive to seek out compelling stories and content;

Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive independently and as a collaborative and creative team player in a fast-paced environment;

Approaches content with an eye for opportunities beyond the written word - experience creating infographics, video scripts, podcasts, social media, and visual storytelling in general;

Attention to detail and precision around correct spelling and grammar;

Self-motivated and organized with excellent time/deadline management;

High proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office 365 applications; photo and video-editing software experience is a plus;

Ability to work independently and make decisions on matters of moderate complexity with minimal guidance;

Ability to accept and incorporate critiques from multiple stakeholders;

A willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the fly

Additional Requirements

• 10% If not located at Global HQ, travel 4-6 times a year for team meetings

This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
