The Communications Department (COM) is the IMF's center for strategic communication. It develops and coordinates implementation of the Fund's external and internal communications strategy, shapes key messages, and advises Management and staff on communications and outreach.

The Immediate Office in the Communications Department defines and implements the overall strategy for the department, manages human resources and the budget, meets departmental business needs, and provides oversight over Immediate Office staff, divisions, and intra-departmental teams. It also leads interaction with Management, the Executive Board, and develops networks inside and outside the Fund.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely with Office of the Managing Director (OMD) and COM staff, the position's primary responsibilities will involve:

  • Preparation of drafts of speeches, speaking notes, op-eds, and other material for the Managing Director, as well as for other members of the Management team as needed, for communication to influential audiences such as policy makers and academics, and the broader public;

  • Managing the process for the preparation and dissemination of speeches, including working with Office of the Managing Director (OMD) and others in COM to maximize the impact of speeches and other communications;

  • Preparation of tailored messaging for different communication channels, such as social media;

  • Contribute, within the Communications Department, to the formulation and implementation of the Fund`s communications strategy;

  • In discharging these tasks, the incumbent will be expected to maintain close contacts with other departments in the Fund, as needed, to ensure that country work and policy developments are fully reflected in the MD's external communications activities.

Responsibilities * Participate in the development and execution of multi-channel marketing plans for all publication releases, communications and advocacy campaigns, in-person and digital events, and other strategic initiatives * Maintain relationships with external partners to expand the reach of both Prosperity Now's content, and the content of our partner organizations * Develop easy-to-use marketing tools that enable Prosperity Now staff and our external partners to increase the visibility of publications, campaigns, events and other strategic initiatives * Supports the execution of the organization's social media strategy across platforms and across all programmatic areas while training staff when applicable * Use Cision communications platform to monitor Prosperity Now in the news, develop media lists, and track industry media trends * Coordinate the organization's digital activity on all social media platforms while consistently maintaining our core values * Manage the execution of Prosperity Now's email marketing efforts, including laying out campaigns in Campaign Monitor; managing subscriber segments, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to help drive refinements to our e-mail marketing strategy * In partnership with the Senior Director and Associate Director, pitch the organization's major materials and events to both traditional and new media while tracking and developing relationships with key media professionals. * Attending or participating in online and in-person events to bring visibility to Prosperity Now's staff of experts and our role as a convener and leader of the field * Other duties as assigned Required Skills & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or 3 years of equivalent work experience * At least three years' experience managing digital media campaigns, stakeholder outreach * The ability to draft communications and marketing materials such as press releases, social media tool-kits and talking points * The ability to write for multiple audiences, both internally and externally, including traditional and new media * Superior organization skills and attention to detail * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop rapport and identify common goals, as well as the ability to work with colleagues from diverse backgrounds * Proficiency with administrative software similar to Microsoft Office applications; and experience using applicable platforms for e-mail marketing, social media marketing, media monitoring, and web analytics Cfed Washington DC
