The Space and Launch division of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Communications leader for the Satellites Communications team. This senior management position will be located in El Segundo, Calif., and will lead a team of Communications professionals in support of a business with government and commercial customers around the globe. This manager will oversee BDS communications for the Southern California region and site communications for BDS operations in El Segundo.

As a member of the Satellites leadership team, this manager will work closely with the organization to:

  • Understand business objectives, strategies and the market conditions (including opportunities and risks) affecting the business

  • Supervise the development and execution of internal and external communications plans aligned with the business and external market conditions

  • Provide Executive Communications support (including message writing, speechwriting, webcast production, multimedia production, etc.) to assist the Satellites senior leaders to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences

  • Provide strategic communications counsel and training to the Satellites leaders team (including media training, presentations skills training, etc.)

  • Identify appropriate internal and external speaking opportunities for the leadership team members to enhance their visibility as industry thought leaders

  • Supervise the development of business-wide communications strategies, reputation management/crisis management plans with government and commercial customers for major program milestones such as press events for satellite factory tours, rocket launches, on-orbit milestones, and trade shows

  • Oversee and support Communications Specialists as they develop and execute program-specific communications plans in support of program business priorities

  • Lead, coach and mentor specialist-level communicators to achieve high performance and career development

  • Ensure Satellites Communications team compliance with Boeing policies and procedures and support the administrative demands of BDS/Space and Launch Communications teams

  • Participate on the Space and Launch Communications Leadership Team.

Given the nature of the Satellites business's customers and product portfolio this position requires the ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

The position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Experience managing diverse teams in developing and implementing communications programs

  • Experience writing communications for senior executives and other leaders

  • Experience developing communications plans and messaging for broad, diverse audiences about highly technical products and programs

As a result of the work that we have recently won, we are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Logistics Communications Manager II to join our team in our growing Buildings division in the Los Angeles area. In this role and the Logistics Communications Manager II will be responsible for overall coordination within their assigned zone and establish a collaborative working relationship with the assigned Airport Operations Zone Manager and the Project Manager (PM). The Logistics Communication Manager II will review all projects for time and space coordination and provide details of any conflicts discovered to the Coordination and Logistical Management (CALM) Manager and Project Manager. Job Location: Los Angeles County (*Company corporate offices are in El Segundo) Responsibilities * Thoroughly familiar with the scope and schedule for all projects occurring within the area of responsibility that are slated for construction within next three years. * Identify areas of potential conflicts between scopes of work and facilitate coordination sessions between individual project participants. Similarly, identify areas of potential overlaps of work and make recommendations concerning opportunities for more efficient (less disruptive) packaging and/or procurement of the work. * Attend weekly project meetings run by the individual Project Managers or by Facilities Maintenance Group (FMG) planning when projects are in concept stage * Attend the weekly Tenant Improvement Approval Process (TIAP) Meetings and review all projects through the planning and design stages * Responsible for leading the development of comprehensive plans for: ramp use materials and contractor access; construction areas within the terminals and their impact of traffic flow; and road and curb impacts for the terminals within the area of responsibility * Extract look-ahead data concerning barricades, utility shutdowns and other actions that would impact LAWA and/or Tenant operations and other projects. * Meet regularly with stakeholders (Operations, Tenants, etc.) to inform them of upcoming work and get input from them on potential impacts. * Provide review and comment on Area Shutdown Request in ensuring adherence to the LAWA Barricade Standards. * Ensure that the Temporary Signage Group has advance notice of passenger and vehicular re-routes so that alternate paths can be approved, and temporary signage prepared. * Ensure data is collected so that comprehensive plans are kept up to date * Interface with utility shutdown expert and engineering technical support to make recommendations for timing of utility shutdowns * Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including LAWA Planning & Development Group (PDG) Element representatives, Utility Shutdown Request (USR) technical staff, USR key stakeholders, Area Shutdown Request (ASR) technical staff, and key stakeholders, Facilities Maintenance Group (FMG), Airport Operations, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Information Technology Group (ITG), Police, and other LAWA departments to develop protocols that will facilitate orderly shutdowns with minimum of disruption to passengers, tenants, and contractors * Makes recommendation to the CALM Manager concerning procedures, protocols, and staffing * Develops appropriate tracking and record keeping tools Qualifications and Skills * Bachelors Degree and 5 years of Construction Management field experience or 15 years of Construction Management field experience * Must have a minimum of 3 years of Airport experience or 5 years of experience in other critical environment facilities * Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project * Proficient in Bluebeam and ProCore * Proven accuracy, reliability, priority setting, and completeness in job accomplishment * Demonstrated planning, controlling, organizing and leadership skills in previous positions * Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience * Must be able to work under pressure on high-profile complicated assignments * Ability to understand design intent of Design Build projects * Ability to assume additional responsibilities other than role outlined above We offer a competitive total compensation package including comprehensive health coverage, 401k and more!
