Senior Coder

Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes on inpatient and outpatient cases using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems, assigns DRGs using the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and All Patient groupers and abstracts data for statistical, reimbursement and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator

• American Health Information Management Association Or

• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician

• American Health Information Management Association Or

• Upon hire: National Certified Inpatient Coder Or

• Upon hire: National Certified Professional Coder Or

• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist

• American Health Information Management Association Or

• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist

• Physician

• American Health Information Management Association

• 3 years of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding experience performing hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding.
• 3 months of Demonstrated proficiency in a concurrent medical record review program that emphasizes partnering between clinical documentation specialists and coding.

Preferred qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school Or Completion of a certified coding program and three years related experience. Will consider applicants with relevant experience and applicable education.
