Senior Cloud Architect

  • Minimum of 10 years of development experience and additional 2 years in cloud architecture and cloudrelated projects,

  • Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security

  • Experience with Web Services (JSON, REST, JAXRS, Spring based REST services)

  • Experience with Java and J2EE/Java EE (including servlets, JSP, JSF, JDBC)

  • Experience with messaging products like RabbitMQ, Kafka or ActiveMQ

  • Experience in AWS Lambda, Serverless, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis

  • Varied Understanding of NoSQL

  • Experience with development tools like Eclipse, Git, Gradle, Sonar, Jenkins, Jira, Artifactory

  • Experience with web application servers like Tomcat, Jetty, JBoss

  • Experience with TDD, code testability standards, JUnit/Mockito

  • Strong understanding of OOP SOA principles, design patterns, industry best practices

  • Experience with scripting and working in a Linux environment

  • Understanding of application lifecycle management on cloud

  • Proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloudbased applications using AWS, GCP, Azure, PCF

  • Ability to use the Cloud APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications

  • Ability to identify key features of Cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, PCF), Ability to use a CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications on Cloud (Jenkins, Spinnaker)

  • Ability to use or interact with Cloud services

  • Ability to apply a basic understanding of cloudnative applications to write code , Ability to write code using AWS security best practices (e.g., not using secret and access keys in the code, instead using IAM roles)

  • Ability to author, maintain, and debug code modules on Cloud

  • Proficiency writing code for serverless applications

VIEW JOBS 9/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-12-16T00:00 What is the opportunity? A Senior Private Cloud Software Developer with exceptional proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (ie. Java) and interpreted languages (ie. Python) who can develop enterprise grade software according to the specifications from business analysts or product owners. Working experience in CI/CD pipelines, agile methodologies, and public/private infrastructure management is also expected. Candidate will architect and develop internal business systems/applications in an organized DevOps team(s). He/she will continuously communicate and help with design requirements, feature sets, functionality and known limitations of systems/applications. Candidate must be able to operate autonomously yet collaboratively with the larger team as each unique project dictates. What will you do? * Integrate vendor automation technologies with existing infrastructure within TI * Abstract products and industry tooling behind TI scoped interfaces and APIs * Expert knowledge of on premise, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure with capability to automate/extend offerings * Adapt quickly and be versatile enough to work as a senior developer and software architect with different platform engineering teams * Push the envelope in the open source software realm and advise on build vs buy decisions in the application space * Communicate technical ideas/make arguments for design decisions to non-technical stake-holders * Manage ambiguity using years of professional analytical and problem solving skills * Work across silos with engineering and architecture to help [technically] design and deliver end to end customer solutions * Use security/cyber experience to safeguard TI's products from internal errors, external breaches, and data corruption issues * Coach, mentor and inspire senior and junior developers and lead conversations within the development team about the technical direction of major areas of the technology stack * Drive team-wide consensus, change management and the adoption of this direction * Identify and clear roadblocks for the team * Lead and help improve software engineering practices across the development team. Embody and advocate a culture of quality code development. * Understand TI's role in the factory 2/3 approach (aka on premise/hybrid cloud) and support the effort operationally and technologically * Use orchestration and automation tools and expertise to allow applications to bring their product to market as soon as possible * Extend TI's Infrastructure as Code offering to support and fuel on premise cloud agility and expansion * Use strong background in machine learning including experience implementing models at scale (from Random Forest and GBMs to RNN/CNNs) * Align to T&amp;O's 5 year vision of 30% reduction of incidents using machine learning and artificial intelligence * Drive automation in TI's Kubernetes space, increasing CI/CD adoption throughout the firm for far cheaper hosting and application infrastructure expenditures * Use strong grasp on modern design pattern and architecture to drive automation and zero touch deployments for TI's consumers What do you need to succeed? Must have (minimum requirements): * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering along with: * 4-6 years' experience in developing applications using an OO or interpreted programming languages and relevant frameworks * Be completely proficient (SME) in areas, technologies, and platforms including: Ansible, Python, Java, Go, Powershell, C#, SQL, Elasticsearch, Github, VmWare, Dell EMC ECS, IBM COS, HashiCorp Vault, Cloudbees Jenkins, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, PyTest, Linux, Redis, Celery, Jupyter Notebooks, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, Packer, Cloudforms, RedHat Linux or CentOs, Active Directory services * <li>Advanced Java knowledge with focus on Spring Boot (or Python with focus on Flask/Django), React is nice to have; proficient in SQL and/or Hibernate ORM; proficient in NoSQL technologies including MongoDB, Elastic * 3 years application development experience in a DevOps team or in an Agile framework; proven use of the CI/CD process and familiarity with respective tools; advanced Git principles, Jenkins, Artifactory, Nexus, etc; advanced working experience with containers and schedulers (Docker, Kubernetes) * API consumption and authoring in public or private cloud space; well versed in RESful principles and security (OAuth2.0, etc) paradigms * Exceptional knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMWare, KVM, and HyperV * Proven practice in configuration/orchestration/infrastructure as code tools (Ansible, Hashicorp Suite) * Ability to learn new programming languages, concepts, or platforms quickly and efficiently * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present work and findings to team members and executives alike * Comfortable in high pressure, deadline-oriented environment; not afraid to speak up and have strong &amp; effective dialog with direct and indirect team and management * Ability to adapt quickly; function independently as required at times of demand; team player, cooperative with good interpersonal skills About RBC Royal Bank of Canada is Canada's largest bank, and one of the largest banks in the world, based on market capitalization.
