As an engineer, you'll monitor, configure, report upon, and improve large-scale systems achieve optimal performance, stability, and availability. Key Qualifications

Experience with Linux system administrationA solid sense of ownership, customer service, communication, and integrity

Understanding of distributed cloud-based architectures

Experience with computer networks

Proficiency in at least one commonly used programming languageA systematic test-and-measure approach to continually improving service operations

Experience with popular database technologiesA passion for automation

Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with configuration management tools and orchestration systems Experience supporting ADDM BMC Discovery appliances Experience developing Clojure applications Experience with concurrent and asynchronous Clojure programming Experience writing BMC's Discovery patterns and TPL scripting Experience with Kubernetes Experience with Kafka

Description

Our team supports open source, proprietary, and internally developed software for discovery, configuration management, provisioning, software deployment, and monitoring. We strive to provide invaluable insight and tools for application development and as part of the team you'll both support these tools and help to improve them.

You will possess both system administration experience and proven software development capabilities. You will be self-motivated with a passion for perfection, quality, and detail in supporting operations, providing architectural design, and through the implementation of complex features.

Education

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related experience

This position is a Software Senior Principle Engineer responsible for the specification, design, implementation, integration, support, and debugging of Dell Wyse Thin OS components, ranging from embedded device drivers, board support packages, and boot images for thin clients, Operating system, middle ware and applications. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for all aspects of development including specification, design, scheduling, implementation, unit test, and interaction with system verification. * Responsible for reviewing and contributing to hardware functional specifications in areas where hardware decisions impact the software. * Development and execution of unit test plans that will be reviewed and approved by peers. * Effective communication with other team members and other groups. * Self-motivated and take full responsibility for deliverables. * Work with QA team and field engineers to resolve Thin OS (OS and applications) issues during testing and certification. Essential Requirements * Understanding of procedures to build and modify the FreeBSD/Linux kernel * Experience in ARM platform development. * Experience in USB stack/system security/browser development is big plus. * 20+ years of experience in Linux/Unix/FreeBSD software development, BSD experience is a big plus. * Experienced in the development and integration of complicated hardware and software systems * In-depth understanding of hardware/software interactions and system management * Proficient experience on device driver development on Linux/FreeBSD * Knowledge and experience of debugging complicated bugs on Linux/FreeBSD platforms * Good working knowledge of source code version control system Desirable Requirements * BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent * Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree Company Description With more than 100,000 team members globally, we promote an environment that is rooted in the entrepreneurial spirit in which the company was founded.
