CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES - POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provide detailed technical support for endovascular products and procedures to a wide range of clinical base including physicians, nurses, radiology technicians and operating room personnel. Support sales representatives with endovascular implants.

A DAY IN THE LIFE - POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinical and technical support as well as education to Medtronic customers in the area of vascular stent graft technology

  • Required to complete Peripheral training as well as support case coverage and sales support

  • Educate and provide information regarding clinical trial status as well as the ongoing implant results of stent graft products

  • Support regional sales strategy; working with sales representatives and managers to achieve business plans

  • Provide on-call support during off hours and weekends as needed

  • Support all BU activities including but not limited to; training, PO collection, inventory management, 3-D construction and simulations

MUST HAVE - BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

  • A High School Diploma plus 9 years of clinical specialist experience with a medical device interventional company, OR
  • An Associate's Degree plus 7 years of clinical specialist experience with a medical device interventional company (or 6 years with 2 years of prior healthcare or engineering experience), OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of clinical specialist experience with a medical device interventional company (or 4 years with 2 years of prior healthcare or engineering experience)

NICE TO HAVE - DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology, medical procedures and the medical device industry

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Effectively build and maintain positive relationships with peers and colleagues across organizational levels

  • Strong project management skills and experience coordinating programs

  • Ability to coordinate/participate in numerous tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment in an organized manner while meeting deadlines

  • Strong work ethic in accomplishing objectives of the position

Primarily responsible for demonstrated and consistent success in group leadership, Field Clinical Operations Specialist (FCOS) mentoring, project management, Clinical Research, publications in the technical/clinical literature, patent submissions, as well as consistently outstanding performance in: field support of Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) and Research Clinical Trials, accurate technical support/troubleshooting, general Field Representation for Abbott, strategic collaboration with Sales to develop business in the local territory, and Field Input to various home office groups. Applies advanced field clinical engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Impact this role will have on Abbott: - * Develop and file patent(s) in areas that are impactful to the company * Develop and file idea(s) for improving existing products * Develop and file data mining idea(s) that can be used to generate abstracts or articles. * Sub-analysis of current or completed studies - Case studies that show significant benefit of company products and features * Develop relationships with physicians to facilitate data mining and generate abstract ideas * Develop special projects that improve FCOS productivity * Provide leadership to the FCOS organization * Act as FCOS champion for a clinical trial as defined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) * Act as chair/co-chair on FCOS product planning council or take a highly active role in one of these groups * Organize monthly meeting calls with agendas and minutes for calls - Provide periodic updates to FCOS management on council activities * Meet regularly with relevant in-house teams to proactively look for ways that FCOS group can contribute to the development process * Monitor field issues to look for potential areas for improvement * Work with FCOS management team to identify potential new members for the FCOS Council * Maximize input from FCOSs on the council to look for ways all council FCOSs to provide significant input * Coordinates field support for all Clinical Research in the territory and mentoring FCSs and FCOSs on conducting Clinical Research * This should include identification of quality centers, training of facility staff on the requirements of the study and operation of the device, insure FCOS attendance for all procedures, continually monitor all aspects of study progress (Enrollment level, protocol and regulatory compliance, and data compliance), supporting the administrative needs of the center, continuous technical support * Assist investigators to publish and/or present the results of these studies at major medical meetings * Provides 24-hour technical support and troubleshooting to customers and Abbott IESD and CATD field personnel * Effectively manages assigned projects such as Mentoring, Product Planning Groups, various Performance Improvement Initiatives, educational materials, etc. * Seeks and promotes original research projects which may be impactful to Abbott * Insures the startup of these studies and strong enrollment in the centers * Functions as an expert resource for cross-covering difficult cases, handling esoteric technical service calls, critical software testing, advisory boards, and high profile presentations * Function as a "pipeline" between Abbott and the Medical Community, constantly communicating important information to customers, within the FCOS group and to other departments (product planning, engineering, marketing and education) - This includes providing Product feedback, comments and suggestions and Competitive information to the Product Planning and Marketing groups * Supports the Field Clinical Engineering, Education and Sales Organizations as a speaker/trainer, developer of training materials and/or Technical Memos on new technologies and advanced algorithms (including competitive products) * Collaborates with Sales Management and Sales Reps to develop and execute strategic plans to develop business in the territory * Assist sales partners by providing technical sales presentations in key accounts * Develop several key accounts where the FCOS presence can produce maximum benefits, both to the company and to the FCOS's professional development -
