What you'll do

  • Leverage your expertise. Conduct qualification visits (QV), site initiation visits (SIV), monitoring visits (MV) and termination visits (TV) at assigned clinical sites and generate visit/contact reports.

  • Build relationships. Oversee integrity of the study and utilize problem-solving skills to promote rapport with the site and staff.

  • Protect patients. Review the performance of the trial at designated sites, ensure the rights and well-being of human subjects are safeguarded and are in accordance with protocol.

  • Drive productivity. Develop patient recruitment strategies in conjunction with the clinical site to meet enrollment timelines, while also ensuring compliance with the approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocol/amendment(s), GCP, and the applicable regulatory requirement(s).

  • Ensure quality. Evaluate the quality and integrity of the reported data, site efficacy and drug accountability.

  • Execute. Monitor the completeness and quality of Regulatory Documentation and perform site document verification.

On your first day we'll expect you to have:

  • Site Management or equivalent experience in clinical research, with understanding of clinical trials methodology and terminology.

  • Ability to perform all clinical monitoring activities independently.

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in biological science, pharmacy or other health related discipline.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills within a matrixed team.

  • Experience working in a self-driven capacity, with a sense of urgency and limited oversight.

  • A client-focused approach to work and flexible attitude with respect to assignments/new learning.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, evaluate a variety of unpredictable scenarios and achieve project timelines while being able to apply your understanding of study protocol(s).

  • An honest and ethical work approach to promote the development of life changing treatments for patients.

  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to the knowledge of a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) and MS-Office products such as Excel and Word.

Providence is calling a Clinical Research Associate II (Oncology Research Dept, Day Shift, 1 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will: * Maintains current knowledge of available trials and evaluates patient's information for appropriateness of enrollment to these specific trials. Collaborates with research nurses, physicians, and other care givers to identify appropriate study candidates. Checks eligibility. Registers protocol patients in appropriate statistical centers. Documents according to regulatory trials. * Assists research nurse with (and when appropriate) consenting study participants to clinical trials. Assures ongoing informed consent process and patient advocacy during the trial according to guidelines per federal Office Protection of Human Subjects. Registers protocol patients in appropriate statistical centers. Documents according to regulatory and departmental standards. * Complies with all applicable regulatory bodies such as FDA, OHRP, Medicare and OIG related to research studies and subjects. Prepares and submits study specific regulatory documents to IRB as well as prepares and submits annual, quarterly, and other intermittent reviews to IRB. Monitors all study group data sources for updates and changes; initiates timely communication and revisions as appropriate. Updates protocol binder with study amendments, revisions and closures. * Coordinates implementation of protocol treatment and follow-up. Coordinates diagnostic, surgical and other procedures or physical exams specific to the study. Collects, records, submits and manages data. Obtains and submits reports to study groups (may include pathology reports, operative reports, radiographs, radiation oncology reports and other specialty reports). Obtains data from physicians as needed. Maintains data confidentiality. Monitors and maintains investigational agent accountability according to protocol guidelines. Records and reports any toxicities experiences by study participants per protocol, federal and IRB guidelines. Coordinates tumor and other specimen collection and submission specific to study adhering to applicable shipping federal guidelines. Answers queries where applicable. * Evaluates protocol study forms completeness, accuracy and compliance to protocol. Seeks assistance and clarification from Research Nurse. Performs consistency check, error edits, and monitors timeliness of data submission as assigned. * Assists research team with administrative support as required. * Collobrates with Research Compliance Coordinator on research billing. * Assures ongoing compliance with all IRB and department policies for regulatory documentation of research processes. * Maintains confidentiality standards for all potential and enrolled patients. Complies with federal HIPAA regulations. * Completes initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department. * Independently responsible for all aspects of coordination of patients on non-treatment cancer control, screening and prevention, retrospective and repository trials (including screening, eligibility review, consenting, and ensuring completion of all protocol-required assessments).
