What Clinical Ops Project Mgmt contributes to Cardinal Health

Clinical Operations Management is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership direction within the Clinical Operations function.

  • The Senior Clinical Project Manager is responsible for driving the clinical strategy and managing the execution of Cordis global clinical studies in support of business and regulatory objectives.

  • Leads project teams through planning, execution and management of all operational aspects of clinical studies

  • Leads, directs and executes clinical studies worldwide in accordance with approved clinical strategy, project plans, budget and resources in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures

  • Establishes and maintains successful collaboration and partnerships with third party vendors (e.g. CROs, core labs, etc.), study investigators and site research personnel to facilitate successful execution of clinical studies

  • Supports development and maintenance of internal and external clinical study materials, processes, manuals, plans, committees, study systems and all sponsor required regulatory submissions

  • Coordinates development of clinical investigational plans, clinical study reports and annual progress reports

  • Ensures the clinical project team maintains a continuous state of audit readiness

  • Leads proactive identification, assessment, and management of clinical study risks

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and relevant clinical operations

  • Independently manages clinical studies of medium and high complexity

  • Coordinates investigator, site and vendor selection

  • Facilitates strategic decisions to optimize implementation projects specific to the management of scope, financials and schedule

  • Manages budgets and timelines for multiple clinical studies/programs

  • Anticipates project risks and develops mitigation strategies/plans for more complex risk factors

  • Serves as a resource and/or mentor to all levels of the Clinical Operations team

  • Presents and communicates study progress to senior level clinical and business leadership

  • Uses tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts across project team members and external stakeholders

  • Leads and directs the discussions with the project team and customers to define scope and project requirements

  • Influences internal and external customer expectations so ensure alignment

  • Communicates clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods and techniques for obtaining results


  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in science

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • 6-8 years of experience managing medical device studies required

  • Experience managing clinical studies in cardiovascular and peripheral vascular areas preferred

As a Senior Project Manager, you will support the Project Management Office leading both internal and external projects by managing communications and expectations with the customer as well as achieving goals and managing the project budget. Job Responsibilities: The Senior Project Manager will act as a mentor to Project Managers and have the ability to take on complex Projects at ePlus strategic accounts. * Run complex projects/programs from design and development to production * Define requirements and plan project lifecycle deployment * Work with Service Directors to define resource requirements and determine schedules for project implementation * Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning * Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals and milestones * Direct and oversee project engineering team and manage conflicts within group * Perform team assessments and evaluations * Facilitate team and client meetings effectively * Hold regular status meetings with project team * Demonstrate leadership to define requirements for project risk * Work with Presales to develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for external services * Manage and maintain technical and project documentation * Manage day-to-day operational aspects and scope of projects * Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client * Effectively apply ePlus methodology and enforce project standards * Minimize exposure and risk on projects * Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis * Manage project budget * Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project * Follow-up with clients regarding unpaid invoices, as necessary * Analyze project profitability, revenue, margin, bill rates and utilization * Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships * Assure legal project documents are completed and signed * Identify business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project * Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor * Develop lasting relationships with client personnel that fosters client ties * Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions Requirements Job Knowledge/Skills: * Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills * Expert Knowledge of PMBOK, Six Sigma * Professional demeanor and good communication skills * Understand revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections; make decisions accordingly Education and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Technology or related field * PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent * Minimum 10 years of project management or IT Management experience * Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating and/supporting IT business processes * Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or other best practices certification is a plus Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
