This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Martin Correctional Institution in the Warehouse Mailroom.

Salary Range: $22,453.60 - $40,481.89

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Provides clerical and operational support of the daily operation, where applicable, of the mailroom, institutional canteens, inmate discharge function and cash receipts, payroll distribution, and institution resource room and laundry operations. This includes, but is not limited to, the receipt, storage and distribution of commodities form the CDW and vendors; receipt, inspection and distribution of all mail for the institution as outlined by procedure. Performs Purchasing Card processor duties.

  • Distributes all incoming and outgoing institutional mail, prepares routine replies to correspondence/ inquiries and types reports. Assists vendors, Service Center staff and institutional staff with routine questions and/or problems.

  • Maintains suspense files, permanent files and tickler files on documents and ensures timely action is taken.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to plan/work productively in a busy environment and meet required deadlines

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Willing to work in direct contact with inmates

  • Two or more years of data entry experience

  • Basic computer skills

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.

  • Knowledge of correct grammar usage.

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.

  • Ability to develop and implement office procedures.

  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
