This is a State Personnel System Posting, only current State employees will be considered, all others will be automatically disqualified.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position requires understanding and command of fundamental principles and practices of arithmetic, office procedures, filing practices, medical data entry and essential computer skills.

Responsible for entry and verification of demographic information in the laboratory computer system. Discrepancies between data on the laboratory requisition form and data that have been entered into the system must be corrected or referred to a supervisor for resolution.

Files laboratory request forms and cards generated by the Microscopy laboratory in a timely and accurate manner.

Responsible for handling incoming telephone calls for the Mycobacteriology and Mycology Units and takes messages as necessary. Contacts providers to obtain patient information missing from requisition forms.

Responsible for separating, mailing, filing and faxing laboratory reports according to laboratory protocol. Assures all faxes cover sheets are updated when new provider contact information becomes available.

Assists with other clerical functions as needed by the Mycobacteriology and Mycology Units.

Performs other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.

Knowledge of office procedures and practices.

Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions.

Ability to accurately enter medical data into LIMS system.

Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
