SENIOR CLERK - 64004603 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 64004603 Salary: $32,760.00 Posting Closing Date: 07/10/2024 Total Compensation Estimator Tool (https://compcalculator.myflorida.com/) Your Specific Responsibilities: This Senior Clerk position requires teamwork, independent decision making, computer skills, clerical skills, and an acute awareness of the confidential nature of client information (medical, financial, and demographic). It requires daily contact with a varied patient/client mix as well as interaction with other members of the health care team.

It requires a willingness to adapt to new and updated regulations and procedures along with the ability to multi-task. Appropriate input of medical (including programs but not limited to: Dental, Immunizations, Title X Family Planning, Primary Care, TB, STD) appointments into Clinic Management System based upon scheduling protocols and information provided by the client.

Prepares records for clinic, including appropriate program specific forms. Scans/Files lab reports and other pertinent medical records. Enters historical immunization data into the computer and prepares appropriate immunization forms.

Correctly scans forms into the electronic health record. Makes confirmation phone calls, breakdown medical records. Retrieve faxes and disperse to appropriate person.

Receive mail and disperse as appropriate. Release of medical records per client request. Medicaid/HMO authorizations and requests for medical information, adhering to all related regulations and standards.

Provides eligibility when needed. Verifies Medicaid or payor source each visit. Verifies HIM area is properly closed, i.e., signs in the windows and telephones forwarded, when staff will be at a different site.

Retrieves phone messages prior to leaving for the day. Works directly with the nursing and dental staff to coordinate provision of services in a professional and efficient manner. Receives all monies for medical services; issues receipts, submits Accounts Receivable to the fiscal office daily.

Is responsible for the petty cash fund. Accurate entry into HMS of all services recorded on encounter forms. Submits EARS in a timely manner and attends trainings as required.

Provides coverage at other sites as needed. Participates in staff meetings and training programs. Works cooperatively with others, keep others informed of necessary and factual information; and to work together as opposed to working separately.

Facilitates the operation of a team of which he/she is a part and fosters teamwork across work units. Encourages open communication and coordination between all members of the health care team. Communicates clearly and listens effectively, deals effectively with conflict, and avoids negative gossip.

Other related work as required by the supervisor. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of incumbent includes working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, natural or man-made.

May be assigned to a special needs shelter during activation of Special Needs Shelter Plan or to a Point of Distribution during activation of Strategic National Stockpile.
