We are seeking a position for Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor. This position sssists in all matters pertaining to structures during the construction phase of ongoing and planned projects. Serves as liaison/manager to Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) for a variety of structure-related projects.

Serves as liaison/manager to IICs for emergency structural repairs, structure painting contracts, structure cleaning contracts, structure preventive maintenance contracts, on-demand maintenance contracts, and other designated structural projects.

Provides guidance and assistance in resolving technical and engineering problems encountered and recommendations related to structural design changes determined necessary to properly expedite construction activities. Review bridge and structures in progress to ensure conformance to established Department schedules.

Assists or takes the lead in mediating differences between contractors and District inspection personnel concerning the use and interpretation of contract requirements, engineering plans and specifications, extra work orders, or other aspects of the contract requirements.

Assists other IICs with field structural problems and resolves them.

Provides technical expertise to IICs to ensure complete understanding of the structure plans and specifications, and ensure conformance to same. Reviews, analyzes, and approves demolition plans of single and multiple span concrete, masonry, and steel structures.

  • Full-time employment

  • Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday

  • Additional/varied hours may be necessary for emergent/operational reasons.

  • You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time up 50% of the time in a 2 week period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the head quarters office in Lehigh County.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; ORFive years of civil engineering experience, in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; OR Six years of civil engineering experience, in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; OR An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Condition of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license

  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists is preferred but not required.
