Stantec's Water sector has an immediate opportunity for a highly-motivated Senior Civil Engineer with extensive water and wastewater experience to join their team in Tampa Florida.

Your Opportunity

The successful candidate will use their management and technical abilities to provide technical leadership in a variety of local projects including pump station design, conveyance system evaluations, mechanical process system design associated with water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and storm water treatment and hydraulic systems.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating project assignments.

  • Perform detailed engineering analysis and design for assigned projects, using judgment in developing and evaluating alternatives on complex projects. Develop plans and specifications.

  • Prepare and negotiate contracts and subcontracts documents and reviews and authorize changes and change orders to design and construction contracts.

  • Serve as Lead Technical Project Engineer on medium to large water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and infrastructure planning and design projects.

  • Responsibilities include developing preliminary budgets, determining scope of work, resource management, establishing schedules, and preparing technical plans and reports.

  • Manage specific technical areas including the supervision of project engineers and provide technical expertise to project engineers, perform analysis or review of design data, provide technical guidance on design problems, and review project engineers' work, as required.

  • Apply and share experience/knowledge of treatment, wastewater collection, and water system conveyance facility design with junior staff within the Water Sector and located in SWFL.

  • Provide technical assistance with delivery of regional projects administered by water management districts and/or USACE.

  • Assist regional marketing team and business development team with identification of pursuits and development of win strategies and responses to request for qualifications and proposals.

  • Research and understand issues related to wastewater and water resources that impact individual projects

  • Knowledge of project management skills related to preparation and management of scopes of service, budgets, and schedules

  • Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical accuracy and inclusion of appropriate documentation.

  • Ability to interact independently with Clients.

  • Seek out new work, prepare proposals, lead presentations, and negotiate new contracts and/or task orders.

  • Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Requires strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with engineering staff at all levels.

  • Requires proven skills in leading project teams and building relationships both internally and externally.

  • Understanding of water distribution and wastewater hydraulics systems.

  • Experience with design of wastewater lift stations and water pump stations highly preferred.

Your Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering. Masters degree preferred. A minimum eighteen (18) years of experience in water and wastewater system design. Registerd PE in the state of FL or the ability to acquire within 6 months.
