Senior Civil Engineer (PE) - Public Works
Columbus, OH- Public Infrastructure Design
This design lead position within EMH&T's Public Works Division provides engineering and technical project support for a variety of public infrastructure improvement projects with a focus on the following municipal services: roadway reconstruction and drainage design, pavement assessment and maintenance, water infrastructure evaluation and design, sewer design, and general preliminary engineering studies and reports.
The ideal candidate for this position is an individual with 3-5+ years of detailed public infrastructure design experience, who is interested in managing a technicians and/or more junior engineers. This position reports to a senior project manager within the Public Works Division. This individual will be responsible for assisting the senior project manager by planning and organizing workflow, providing technical oversight of various project components, overseeing the preparation of design calculations, details and specifications, as well as assisting with plan reviews and modifications.
Strong familiarity with both the City of Columbus and Ohio Department of Transportation Material and Construction Specifications and various design manuals is necessary. Qualified applicants will have experience successfully working with a team of technicians and designers to plan, design, bid and provide consultation during construction for a variety of public infrastructure improvements, including but not limited to: roadway reconstruction and widening, street rehabilitation and resurfacing programs, site grading and drainage improvements, and public utility improvements (water distribution and sewer).
Desired qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 8 - 10 years of work experience, with a PE license in the State of Ohio. Exceptionally strong work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education or PE registration.
Applicants must have proficiency using and overseeing work completed in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and other design/drafting software. Candidates must be proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel.
