Job Overview:

Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience. Performs other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis

  • Development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.

  • Engineering Reports are often a work product.

  • Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures

  • Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.

  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.

  • Responsible for planning, technical execution and progress reporting on assigned projects.

  • Design of various drainage structures including trenches, culverts, manholes, headwalls, sumps, and outfalls.

  • Design of site earthworks including rough grades, final grades, slope stabilization, soil remediation, retention structures, and storm protection structures.

  • Design of road, haul, and access ways.

  • Capable of hydraulic calculations, interpretation of geotechnical data, and able to prepare and check specifications.

  • Works independently with minimal guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • PE Registration

  • Proficient in EarthWorks software such as Geopak, Inroads and SPR.

  • Familiar with design codes such as NFPA, IBC, AASHTO, and ASCE

  • Familiar with SWPPP and other permitting processes

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in designing Oil & Gas facilities

  • Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline.

  • Usually determines own work priorities.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • May stabilize at this level for many years.

  • Has expertise in own discipline.

  • Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.

  • Monitors and controls costs within own work.

  • Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.

  • Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities in own area.

  • Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus.

  • Promotes teamwork; coaches and guides others.

  • Minimum 8 years' relevant experience

  • AutoCAD knowledge

  • MicroStation knowledge

VIEW JOBS 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-09T00:00 Requisition ID: 77103 Location This position will be located in our Energy Corridor office on the west side of Houston Responsibilities * Work on large size or multiple small size engineering projects with minimum supervision. * Define the scope of work, prepare estimates and schedule for civil engineering portion of work in a project. * Developing and directing discipline monitoring with the Engineering Project Manager (e.g. project budget, schedules, and change management requirements etc.) Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing needs) for project management and department management * Reviewing, monitoring and ensuring compliance requirements are met for design (e.g. Standards, specification and local codes and regulations etc.) * Incorporate requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements ensuring projects meet or exceed project goals. * Mentor and direct work of entry and mid-level employees for skills development, review progress and results, and provide direction and mentoring as needed. * Lead the coordination effort with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors and owners to address civil engineering related issues or concerns. * Lead the technical development of calculations, plans/drawings, and specifications. * Responsible for providing civil engineering estimate of quantities, materials take off. * Coordinate with Construction to answer field generated RFI's. Qualifications * 18-25 years hands-on experience in civil engineering projects. Oil and gas, heavy industrial market and EPC experience preferred. * Strong technical background in general site civil design, drainage systems, grading and roads/paving. * Knowledgeable in multiple engineering design software. ACAD Civil 3D experience is a must. * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program. * Licensed Professional Engineer with NCEES record. * Familiarity with the latest national and design codes. * Experience in LNG projects is strongly desirable. Working Conditions * Fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds. * Travel in the U.S. and internationally (5-15%).
