Job Overview:

Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience. Performs other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis

  • Development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.

  • Engineering Reports are often a work product.

  • Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures

  • Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.

  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.

  • Responsible for planning, technical execution and progress reporting on assigned projects.

  • Design of various drainage structures including trenches, culverts, manholes, headwalls, sumps, and outfalls.

  • Design of site earthworks including rough grades, final grades, slope stabilization, soil remediation, retention structures, and storm protection structures.

  • Design of road, haul, and access ways.

  • Capable of hydraulic calculations, interpretation of geotechnical data, and able to prepare and check specifications.

  • Works independently with minimal guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • PE Registration

  • Proficient in EarthWorks software such as Geopak, Inroads and SPR.

  • Familiar with design codes such as NFPA, IBC, AASHTO, and ASCE

  • Familiar with SWPPP and other permitting processes

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in designing Oil & Gas facilities

  • Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline.

  • Usually determines own work priorities.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • May stabilize at this level for many years.

  • Has expertise in own discipline.

  • Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.

  • Monitors and controls costs within own work.

  • Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.

  • Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities in own area.

  • Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus.

  • Promotes teamwork; coaches and guides others.

  • Minimum 8 years' relevant experience

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD knowledge

  • MicroStation knowledge

VIEW JOBS 7/18/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-10-16T00:00 Job Description Arcadis Houston has an immediate opening for a Civil Project Engineer to work as an embedded contractor with our oil and gas client to support their development and execution of civil infrastructure works at a wide variety midstream pipeline water crossings. This position will be responsible for managing multiple Mitigation projects including concept and alternatives evaluation, permitting activities with the applicable agencies, development of detailed engineering design (Issue for Construction Drawings), and all supporting activities for construction execution and close out. The successful candidate will employ the client's standards, protocols, and global practices and will steward projects through their Gate/Stage process with the appropriate internal review/approval cycles. Activities or tasks include but are not limited to the following: * Coordinate Hazop, Design, Cost & Schedule, and Constructability Reviews * Review and approval of engineering design documentation * Steward project budget and schedule, and monthly forecasts * Work with multiple stakeholders including operations personnel, engineering consulting firms, construction firms, engineering SMEs, and other client personnel * Develop bid analysis forms or bid slates of contractors and works with Operations for approval of final bid selection * Stewards project safety with LPS * Manages all client internal project budgeting (AFE), procurement, and purchase order review/approval processes The critical skills and knowledge requirements include: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering * Field Engineering Experience and Operations knowledge * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present information * The successful candidate should have roughly 7-10 years experience in engineering design or construction in midstream work and/or related field Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field * 7-10 years of experience in similar type work * Ability to work independently and to mentor junior staff * Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models * Basic knowledge of earthwork, grading, and slope design * Experience in a consulting engineering firm * Project Management and Technical Delivery Experience in similar works.
