Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Senior Center Director for our Walnut Creek Health Center. This role is full-time, 40+ hours per week. SUMMARY

The Senior Center Director has direct oversight for the overall development, management, and supervision of center staff and services at the Walnut Creek health center. The Senior Center Director is responsible for the internal systems, cost-effective functioning and personnel management of the health center while assuring compliance with regional and state regulations and standards, while providing excellent, responsive, patient-centered services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for patient volume, capacity, flow, and productivity for the Walnut Creek health center. Meet or exceed visit productivity goals and annual estimated visits per the annual budget.

  • Manages health center goals regarding number of patients served, patient wait time, appointment show rate, billing, and customer satisfaction.

  • Provides clinic supervision in day-to-day health center processes and encourages the development of skills relating to workflow processes.

  • Manage the health center's budget.

  • Determine appropriate staffing structure, based on patient demand.

  • Hires, mentors, and coaches, health center staff. Builds and reinforces a culture where center staff are personally accountable and take pride in their work.

  • Promotes identification of needs and problem solving within the center. Identifies areas to integrate and works to improve clinic operations and system.

  • Ensures that business and clinical processes are "patient friendly." Encourages innovation and creative thinking in finding opportunities to serve the patient better. Manages patient complaints.

  • Coordinates Quality Assurance program along with Lead Clinician and the Senior Director of Clinical Quality Assurance. Ensures processes are in place and followed for excellent clinical quality and patient and staff safety.

  • Leads all Health Center audit activities, including Accreditation.

  • Actively participates in Continuous Process improvement activities, including front and back-office optimization work.

  • Oversees management of inventory of equipment and supplies.

  • Provides direct patient care approximately 10-20% of the time.

  • Plans and implements new programs and services as needed.

  • Assists in managing specific grants and grant personnel as directed by the Sr. Dir. of Operations and/or Compliance.

  • Cultivates collaborative working relationships with community agencies and organizations to meet the community and PPNorCal needs in the region. Represents the organization at meetings, community events, and conferences as requested.

  • Provides active supervision and oversight of research functions and personnel, ensuring research activities are fully integrated into health center operations.

  • Fosters a positive communication environment including eliciting staff creativity, ideas, and suggestions. Maintains positive employee relations including proactively addressing potential employee concerns/problems.

  • Leads, motivates, coaches, and performs on-the-job training for all team members: program managers, non-licensed staff, and clinicians[SE1] . Participates in a team approach to patient care, being cognizant of and responsive to the needs of patients and all health center team members.

  • Displays an effective leadership style with team members. Provides timely feedback and performance evaluation reviews with staff.

  • Participates in affiliate Center Management meetings.

  • Collaborates with other organizational departments to provide an array of community services.

  • Partners with CEO and other members of the team on health center tours.

  • Role-models and provides leadership in advancement of PPNorCal's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) commitment and health equity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Patient Services Manager. May directly supervise other staff and ultimately responsible for the Walnut Creek team. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous health care or health center management highly desired. Experience with budget development and management highly desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software. Knowledge/experience with EHR & EPM systems preferred.

PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS REQUIREMENT

As required for health care operations and patient treatment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver's License and insurance required.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS

  • Leadership skills including vision, enthusiasm, common sense, proven management skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service and the mission of Planned Parenthood.

  • Five or more years of experience in health care supervision/management including personnel management, program management and fiscal management.

  • Commitment to working with diverse patient populations with an emphasis on prevention and empowerment.

  • Flexibility, creativity, ability to tolerate ambiguity and change, and analyze and adapt to new or changing situations while exhibiting effective leadership skills.

  • Ability to set priorities, maintain composure under stress, and provide leadership in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to influence and secure cooperation from others and consistently demonstrate a solution-oriented approach.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, make decisions, solve problems and function as a team leader.

  • Excellent organizational skills, a sense of responsibility and a high level of motivation.

  • Ability to think and act strategically.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Pay Range: Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) supports California's new law (SB 1162) enhancing pay transparency. This new law requires employers with 15 or more employees to include a pay range in job postings. The pay range reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. Employees with more experience, education, and other qualifying factors may be compensated at a higher rate of pay. The entry pay range for this position is: $111,400 - $135,900 annualized salary.
