WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior CEI Inspector for our Tampa office. Be involved in projects with our Florida PM/CM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Job Duties:
Interpret plans and perform independent technical assignments to ensure inspection and monitoring of construction activities performed on roadway and bridge construction projects.
Verify that construction activities are performed according to the contract documents, including specifications, plans, standard plans, permits, policies and procedures.
Perform materials testing using hand tools, gauges and/or instruments in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements and scope of services.
Use various engineering tools, equipment, instruments, and computers for performing technical tasks, problem solving and record keeping.
Maintain detailed accurate records of operations and significant events: Complete and enter Daily Work Reports into client's database.
Prepare documentation to validate payments to roadway contractors.
Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control (device usage, installation/placement, and materials to ensure safe work zones). Review work site activities for conformance with safety regulations and take corrective measures when deficiencies are identified.
Monitor Environmental Permits compliance.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience.
Knowledge of concepts, terminology and principles of road and bridge construction
Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) and maintain good working relationships with contractors, utility companies, FDOT and others
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.
Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Ability to work nights and weekends and be available for emergency response work as necessary.
Valid Class E driver's license
Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
