Pay Range: $89,000 - $126,000
Job Summary: As the Subject Matter Expert for Polyurethane Foam, this position is responsible to provide leadership of the cross-functional development and implementation of Category Sourcing Strategy, generating best in class values in cost, performance, and technology for the assigned Category(s). The Sr. Category Manager will be the direct interface to the supply base, and accountable for supplier performance and management of all strategic and tactical issues necessary to the Company's success.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:
- Accountable to lead cross-functional Teams in the 6 Step Sourcing Process to develop and implement a Global Category Sourcing Strategy for assigned Category(s), in alignment with the Company's overall strategy and goals. This includes:
- Industry Analysis, including Technology / Innovation, Cost Drivers, and Competitive Landscape.
- TSI Spend Analysis
- Total Landed Cost, Position of Strength using Porter's 5 Forces, and multi-year category strategy development.
- Risk Assessment, Mitigation Plans, and Disaster Recovery.
- SMI/Inventory DOS, lead-time/fulfillment, excess/obsolete, and supply consolidation.
- Obtain/secure material innovation/technology for exclusive Tempur Sealy use.
- Accountable for Leadership of regional purchases to align with the Global Strategy.
- Review and make recommendations of category strategies from other category sourcing managers.
- Responsible for managing the internal and external relationships associated with assigned Category(s). This includes:
- Own the Supplier relationship of assigned categories, from daily operational requirements to facilitate/support of interactions between TSI and Supplier senior level executives.
- Work cross functionally with corporate Marketing, GPD and Operations Management to develop best practices and earlier involvement with the introduction of new raw materials and product lines.
- Participate in cross functional events to express the best interest of all Operations functions.
- Responsible for owning and enforcing the terms and conditions of the supplier contracts.
- Lead and mentor less experienced sourcing team members on all aspects of category management.
- Accountable to create opportunities to achieve lowest system costs while maintaining the highest quality and service performance to support Tempur Sealy operations. This includes:
- Utilize RFx process to develop price analysis and total cost models to identify and understand cost drivers for base raw materials that comprise targeted components in the Category. Initiate alternative sourcing opportunities with new or current suppliers.
- Resolve supply or quality related problems for assigned spends (i.e. pricing, expediting, scheduling of orders, investigating discrepancies, and communicating updates to internal business partners.)
- Negotiate contract terms which establish various requirements to be awarded TSI business, including cost driver transparency, delivery lead-time/fulfillment strategies, freight policies, payment terms, component quality expectations, collaboration on technology/innovation, and disaster recovery planning.
- Responsible for managing the supplier balanced scorecard and conducting periodic cross-functional reviews with supplier and TSI management.
- Implement and administer Supplier operational compliance to global purchasing programs, addressing any issues that may surface.
- Component/Supplier Qualification
- Coordinate with New Product Development and Supplier Quality Engineering on all new material specifications, development, and certification of supplier manufacturing processes/facilities.
- Maintain vendor master file and vendor trade agreements for accuracy (including SKU's/part numbers, pricing, nomenclature, shipping footprint, unit of measure, lead time, payment terms, etc.), and Disseminate to the plants and management as required.
- Provide critical feedback loops to Manufacturing and Planning on appropriate supplier capacities for each facility depending on the complexity of the new products.
Identify potential post-launch Value Engineering (PPC) opportunities, providing support to PPC project managers.
Support other activities as assigned.
