Responsibilities

The Senior Category Manager will work with a team of Category Management, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain professionals to optimize sales and profits for both UPHE and Amazon. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the development of category strategies and leadership initiatives. This position reports to the Vice President for the Amazon Account Management Team.

Essential Responsibilities:

Leading the Joint Business Plan and Levels of Service processes including planning, tracking and re-forecasting volume, efficiency, profitability and spending to identify opportunity gaps vs. our objectives internally and with Amazon

Ensuring that Annual Strategic and Tactical Plans align with company objectives as well as industry and retailer insights

Using data driven insights to help the customer team identify profitable, incremental, sales opportunities and/or opportunities for greater efficiency

Building and maintaining long-term strategic relationships with the customer through objective and actionable insight and strategic discussions and presentations

Ensuring that analysis and insight of retail programs is actionable, accurate, timely and presented in a professional and practical manner.

Providing updates and guidance to Finance and Sr. Management leaders on a regular basis

Analyzing industry, category, customer and shopper insights along with macro market trends and translating that data into actionable insights that drive strategic and tactical decisions at the customer and internally

Working closely with the Team Lead, SAE and the Customer Marketing Manager (CMM) to provide insights that drive overall improvement in strategic and tactical decisions at Amazon

Leading and developing the Sales Analyst to deliver on company and personal objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 4 years consumer packaged goods, category management, retail planning or home entertainment industry experience

Strong forecasting, analytical and financial modeling skills

Excellent interpersonal, presentations and communication skills

High degree of computer proficiency especially Excel and PowerPoint

Strong leadership skills; ability to direct activities of cross functional team members toward stated goals

Strong understanding of retail finance

Good organizational skills and the proven ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving environment

Excellent project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Position Overview The Senior Manager, Home and Seasonal business North America will focus on growing the Home Furnishings and Seasonal categories. In order to do so, he / she will develop sustainable strategies for their categories and manage licensee relationships, build stakeholder support, harness internal resource to execute on these. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Home Furnishings business, and knowledge of the licensing and retail landscape. He / she will have established relationships with manufacturers and / or retailers in this space, a successful track record developing and executing category strategies and tactics, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the breadth of skills required to help execute key initiatives & overall growth of the Home and Seasonal business. Responsibilities Strategy * Develop & execute category strategies in sync with larger divisional strategies. * Communicates strategy to team members and other internal partners/stakeholders Finance and Business Planning * Give input in the annual budget and Long-Range Planning * Evaluate and analyze licensee business plans and quarterly sales forecasts * Manage contract negotiations by analyzing and vetting licensee business plans. Category Management and Licensee Management * Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats and dynamics for key licensees * Analyzes category and reviews business in order to identify short- and long-term revenue-generating opportunities * Tap into the "white space" through seeking new partnerships or developing new products and services, and grow the business * Actively develop and manage a portfolio of licensees to grow the category. Critically evaluate the licensee base to ensure we have the right amount and best quality partners. * Maintain productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization * Working with the different UBD departments, ensure timely execution of essential licensing function across categories: contract negotiations & contract maintenance, business reviews, product development process, product approvals * Partnering with the Product Development team, ensure that licensees develop appropriate product lines with focus on innovation, freshness and adequate price points. Retail Development * Liaise with Retail Development team to support retail activation plans with the licensees * Maintain knowledge of seasonalities and buying cycles of retailers. Management * Responsible for growth and development of a Manager * Perform general supervisory functions such as, coaching, performance management and development. Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree, MBA a plus * 5+ years of homewares and / or Licensing experience as a licensor and/or retail buying experience in category.
