Job Overview:

Utilizes expert knowledge of category trends and insights to develop strategy-focused and actionable category initiatives that deliver on both the PetIQ and retailer objectives. Identifies and quantifies opportunities and strategies to optimization retailer product mix, category health, promotion optimization, and pricing. This role works closely with SVP of Sales to actively develop and present monthly category reviews. A successful team member will be self-motivated and willing to tackle tasks as they arrive.

Essential duties:

Educate and inform PetIQ sales team on latest category performance and insights.

Utilize various sources including syndicated data and retailer POS; research to solve current business issues, define category and

consumer trends, and identify business opportunities. This analysis will be translated into fact-based recommendations and customer presentations.

Develop and maintain a pipeline of fact-based actionable consumer and shopper insights relevant to PetIQ and retail partner needs

Create and deliver consistent monthly category performance presentations.

Proactively identifies gaps and opportunities to drive category growth.

Collaborates with sales team on key customer insights and opportunities

Identify impact of changing retailer strategies and shopper behavior (omnichannel)

Create benchmark tracking on seasonal item performance

Contributes to annual sales planning/budgeting via forward looking category trends

Provides shopper insights and perspective to support customer initiatives

Lead and developing internal and external category sales support personnel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant CPG work experience

  • 3+ years Shopper Insights or Category Management experience

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Advanced experience with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator, 1010) required

  • Plan-o-gram Development experience for store implementation (JDA) preferred

  • Ability to travel 20% or as needed for role

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant CPG work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Traditional Category Management/Analysis skills with developed understanding of the Omnichannel/ecommerce shopping trends

  • Data mining and consumer research skills

  • Strong analytical and thought leadership capabilities.

  • Ability to connect insight to actionable store execution.

  • Experience leading a team in a category team

  • Must be able to build relationships and influence decision making internally and at key customers.
