The role

This position will process and analyze natural catastrophe risk information for insurance and reinsurance underwriting and portfolio risk assessment. This includes supporting underwriting access to information, and supporting regular portfolio data development and analysis procedures. The position will work within a team of analysts using a variety of databases and modelling software along with various other available tools to quantify the natural hazard exposure inherent in property re/insurance. The analyst is expected to have strong experience in the field of catastrophe modelling.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide catastrophe modelling support for pricing and risk selection purposes in a timely fashion for treaty underwriting teams.

  • Support group accumulation processes through running and extracting analyses, review of modelling work and entries into accumulation systems

  • Enter and otherwise manipulate exposure information for importing into catastrophe risk assessment models and /or platforms.

  • Work closely with other CRM analysts collaborating on project work and reviewing analysis work undertaken by others

  • Initiate, manage and participate in CRM projects either specifically related to the use of catastrophe models (e.g. model evaluation) or relating more generally to catastrophe risk management issues (e.g. process enhancements, techniques for non-modelled lines of business).

  • Assist in management of modeling of portfolio of business for our Facultative and/or Facultative Automatic line of business.

  • Development and improvement of the Aspen CRM processes and / or capabilities.

  • Prepare exposure and loss data for regulatory and outwards reinsurance as required.

  • Provide support, assistance and training to more junior analysts

  • Assist in the execution of portfolio analyses and reporting

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • At least 5 years of relevant (re)insurance experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience with at least one of the vendor models (RMS/AIR/Impact Forecasting) required.

  • CCRA and CEEM designations a plus

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite essential.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL scripting required.

  • Awareness of best practice and emerging trends within insurance and/or catastrophe modelling

  • Familiarity with VBA, R, Python or other analytical software a plus.

The role * Regional Service Technical Support Analyst is aligned to support the Regional Service Manager and to service both Underwriting and Underwriting Services. * Assist Property Casualty Underwriting Team in various technical underwriting support function including: Location clearance analysis, reviews of invoices and bordereaux, assist in compiling retro details, produce / update reports, QC Review bound accounts, adjust information per UWs instructions. * Interact with internal and outsourced UW operations. * Will report to the Regional Services Manager. Key accountabilities Business Management: * To be aware of, and comply with, the appropriate regulatory requirements for the territory / territories operated in * Develop the skills to analyze, interrogate and generate insights from appropriate data sources * To operate as an effective team member to support colleagues across other Aspen business and service units to assist in the delivery and achievement of wider corporate objectives * Liaise with the Underwriters, outsourced UWS operations and internal operations to agree appropriate prioritization of individual workloads in order to ensure the ongoing support of Aspen Re's business requirements Underwriting Management: * Perform QA of offshore data entry within agreed SLA's and report errors found. * Respond to queries raised offshore and provide insights into why queries are emerging and make recommendations to reduce query volumes based on process/people. * Respond to complex and time sensitive accounts on behalf of underwriting team both internal and outsourced teams. * Communicate with brokers about processing of items, including audits, endorsements, certificates, etc. * Perform Year to Year comparisons on renewals for underwriting team Additional Responsibilities: * Understand relevant broker and underwriting team requirements in order to ensure effective and efficient resolution of queries * Be involved in the delivery of appropriate business operations efficiency improvement projects Skills & experience * 5 to 7 years of relevant experience from a (re)insurance background * Excellent knowledge of core (re)insurance principles, premium recognition and types of contract wordings * An appropriate understanding of risk and underwriting concepts to support Underwriting Staff, justify MI and instruct outsourced operations teams as needed * Good written and verbal communication skills * Strong critical reasoning, numerical reasoning, problem solving, analytical and creative thinking skills * Strong Excel skills Other We are an equal opportunity employer.
