New England Aquarium is seeking a Full Time Senior Cashier to join our Box Office team! This individual will be responsible for performing sales and collecting revenue for the Aquarium and IMAX Theatre from any of the ticket booths; handles all monetary and coupon deposits for their day's receipts; checks in groups for any venue at the facility; trains cashiers in their day to day cashiering duties; directs visitors and handles the queue organization; and functions as an IMAX host when needed.
Tuesday - Saturday scheduled between the hours of 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, working approximately 35 hours weekly.
Demonstrates consistently high standards of interaction with visitors and fellow staff members by providing first-class customer service. Acts as a resource for cashiers and visitor assistants in the main building and in the IMAX Theatre.
Up-sells to combo tickets of all types (IMAX, AQ).
Follows department policies and reports any issues to the lead on duty.
Responsible for their own daily deposits.
Responsible for knowing all discounts, coupons and promotions that pertain to the ticketing function and being able to ring vouchers and difficult sales in support of the lead.
Calmly handles customer complaints; assists in correcting transaction errors as needed at the direction of the lead.
Participates in training cashiers and visitor assistants.
May be responsible for opening and closing duties of the Ticket booth, Functions as a Line Facilitator directing and assisting visitors as they enter the Plaza and ticketing queues. Assists in the communication with Visitor Experience staff on the Plaza with visitor way-finding and queuing
Greets and/or Checks-in groups for the Aquarium and IMAX.
Cross-trains and assists in all department areas as needed including visitor assistant duties in the main building and in the IMAX Theatre.
Performs other position-related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Training and Experience
H.S. diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 1 1/2 years of cashier and customer service experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Cashier skills/ experience
Knowledge of register operation, including cash, credit cards and register receipts
Customer service experience in a fast paced high volume environment
Ability to be outgoing and friendly
Demonstrates a positive, helpful attitude toward customers, including the ability to speak clearly and convey information accurately
Strong math skillsand the ability to handle transactions quickly and accurately
