Human Resources seeks to deliver innovative and integrated HR programs; attract to the Bank the most skilled, capable and diverse talent; foster an inclusive environment within the Bank that embraces diversity of people, thought and perspective; and demonstrate leadership and vision within the Federal Reserve System.

Within Human Resources, the Campus Recruitment Team is responsible for developing and maintaining strong partnerships with key undergraduate and graduate programs at leading colleges and universities nationwide. Campus recruiting involves on-site Bank visits/events including undergraduate and graduate summits, panel discussions, networking opportunities and interviews. These efforts, in collaboration with college/university career centers, student group leaders and diversity partner organizations, provide the Bank with an opportunity to educate students about its mission and the important role it plays in shaping and stabilizing the US economy. More importantly, it acts as a vital source of diverse talent and potential hires for the Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of the Undergraduate/Graduate Summer Analyst & Associate Program including oversight and execution of the summer intern mentoring program and mid/final performance reviews;

  • Strategically manage full cycle recruitment process for undergraduate and graduate students including sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates for opportunities across the Bank;

  • In collaboration with Bank diversity teams, attract diverse talent by positioning the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as an employer of choice, reinforcing the values and culture of the Bank

  • Liaise with HR and Bank Communications Teams to develop innovative marketing strategies and tools that are designed to attract diverse talent

  • Assist with the development of outreach strategies to identify and develop a pipeline of diverse talent. This includes coordination of and participation in external events, conferences and hosting in-house events

  • Manage key external campus recruitment relationships including but not limited to college/university administrators, diversity partner organizations and student groups/organizations;

  • Manage key internal client relationships including but not limited to campus recruitment liaisons, senior leaders and other business group representatives

  • Lead planning and implementation of summer events and lead presentations as part of the Summer Program;

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of campus recruitment strategies, processes, policies and structure/format of programs;

  • Collaborate on campus recruitment branding initiatives and analysis of effectiveness of marketing strategies;

  • Represent the Bank at recruitment events including on-site summits and national/local conferences, panel discussions, business area presentations, and meetings with senior leaders;

  • Actively engage employees at all levels to represent the Bank at recruiting events and to act as ambassadors for the Bank`s campus recruiting efforts;

  • Work with HR Analytics Team to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual specialized reporting for senior management to monitor efficacy of the Bank`s campus recruitment efforts/programs;

Requirements (including Education and Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree required;

  • Five to seven years of experience with a minimum of four years of campus-specific recruitment experience;

  • Experience representing an organization to external clients and working in a service oriented environment;

  • Demonstrated experience generating and implementing creative campus recruitment strategies in a corporate setting;

  • Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders including candidates, diversity partners, campus personnel and business managers;

  • Strong communications and public relations skills including the ability to represent the organization effectively to a wide range of constituents;

  • Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems and reviewing resumes against position requirements;

  • Ability to utilize Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.

  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills, including the ability to synthesize information, make data based decisions and implement effectiveness measures;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders;

  • Impeccable organizational and project management skills;

  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality when working with sensitive information.

  • Ability to interact in a professional and effective manner, with all levels of Bank management and staff;

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced and high stress environment.

Purpose: The HRBP Senior Manager contributes to Stakeholders' success by identifying, recommending and implementing client-specific HR solutions that are aligned with business strategies; partnering with GBM HR locally and globally to ensure HR programs and policies are aligned with Stakeholders' strategies and are successfully implemented. The HRBP Senior Manager is accountable for building and maintaining strong relationships with the business groups they support. Partnering with GBM HR, Corporate HR and other key internal partners, the HRBP Senior Manager will leverage knowledge and best practices to provide guidance and counsel to Leaders and Management teams, supporting the building and maintenance of a skilled and motivated workforce capable of and, committed to, delivering their business strategy. With minimal guidance and coaching from the Head, Human Resources U.S., the HRBP Senior Manager acts as an advisor to Senior Management teams within their assigned portfolio by providing advice and guidance on sensitive and often complex HR issues, given the diverse and global nature of the Stakeholder groups, in the areas of compensation, performance management, learning & development, recruitment, job evaluation, global mobility, change management and employee issue resolution. Key Accountability: 1. Contribute to the achievement of assigned Stakeholder goals and objectives by: * Building and managing relationships with assigned Stakeholders up to and including the MD & Head level and gaining a solid understanding of their business strategies, goals and objectives in order to respond to their short and long term needs. * Working with the local HR Head to determine the major HR implications of the Stakeholders' strategies and identifying, developing and implementing HR recommendations and solutions to support those strategies and Scotiabank's goals and objectives. * Acting as the 'central point of contact' between the local business lines and GBM HR, Corporate HR and other partner groups in the Corporate Functions and working with the appropriate matrix reporting relationships, to ensure that HR programs and initiatives are planned, coordinated and successfully implemented in a consistent manner across the global audience. * Collaborating with Corporate HR groups, including Leadership, Total Rewards, Global Employment Strategies, HRSS, Employee Relations, and business line HR Relationship Management Offices and the local HR team in order to support Stakeholders' with the ever changing HR needs of a diverse, global workforce. 2. Provide HR support to Stakeholder Management teams by: * Partnering with Stakeholder Senior Management teams and the local Head of HR, when required, to develop and deliver client specific initiatives related to recruitment, leadership resource planning, learning & development, retention & employee engagement. * Partnering with the local Head of HR and the Stakeholders' Senior Management teams to implement change initiatives by providing support with organization design and job evaluation; determining HR implications; developing people strategies and guidelines to support the change; and developing the communication strategy and plan. Providing advice and counsel to Stakeholders' to ensure internal job equity though Job Evaluation (JE); managing the evaluation process including slotting jobs up to Level 8 and coordinating submissions, on behalf of the Stakeholder, for presentation to the Job Evaluation Committees for jobs level 9+ or benchmark jobs; maintaining open dialogue with the Stakeholder and the JE Corporate team throughout the process to ensure appropriate information is gathered and presented for a successful outcome. * Partnering with Stakeholders' to ensure smooth execution of the delivery/implementation of new global HR programs, policies and initiatives; supporting the stakeholders' with annual programs such as year-end compensation planning and issue resolution; and monitoring existing Bank programs and processes to ensure they continue to meet Stakeholders' current and future needs. * Partnering with the local Head of HR and GBM HR Leadership & Employee Development team to identify, champion and implement learning solutions to close gaps and/or enhance performance, employee engagement or implement change, including the creation and ongoing sustainment of a robust intern program for the United States. * Analyzing and interpreting a wide range of information and metrics to drive decisions and solutions for issues around compensation, employee engagement and diversity and inclusion and prepare or provide input to presentations and reports of observations and recommendations based on findings. 3. Overseeing Staffing & Recruitment support for Stakeholder Management teams by: * Developing staffing strategies and programs, together with the local Head of HR and GBM HR, to identify talent internally and externally, in line with global, divisional and regional employment strategies, programs and policies; * Managing the identification of appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels, ensuring qualified and diverse candidate pools; * Ensuring the quality recruitment and selection of qualified employee candidates who can best contribute to the success and growth of the company and meet the behavioural competencies, skills, knowledge and abilities required of the job; * Fostering long-term relationships with organizations/individuals that will enhance the talent pipeline flow within the Country, for both full time GBM and intern roles; * Providing advice and counsel to Senior Management in the recruitment, selection, assignment and placement of staff to meet the Bank's staffing objectives; * Developing programs, together with the local Head of HR and GBM HR, to allow the corporation to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to permit the full development and performance of all employees; 4. Proving support on Compensation related matters to Stakeholder Management teams by: * Managing the internal process of compensation negotiations for new hires, liaising with local and matrix business line mangers, Total Rewards and GBM HR and ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements relative to the structuring of compensation packages; * Liaising with Total Rewards to assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets; * Reviewing and analyzing survey results and recommending any changes to ensure employment value offer is competitive and tailored to market trends; * Liaising with GBM HR/Total Rewards on all related programs to keep abreast of compensation philosophy and direction; 5. Overseeing Employee Relations support for Stakeholder Management teams by: * Managing the sound administration of the Performance Management, Performance Enhancement and Performance Improvement issues ensuring the fair and equitable application of it. * Supporting Stakeholder Management teams with advice and counsel on initiatives to ensure that the Performance Management process is effectively understood and practiced locally; * Monitoring all labor practices and policies to ensure equitable treatment for all employees within the legal and social framework of the area; * Proving advice and counsel to business leaders in resolving difficult staff relations or interpretation of policies, workings in collaboration with appropriate internal partners and external legal counsel as required; * Reviewing all cases regarding recommendations to terminate employees as a result of irregular practices or other serious breaches of the Bank's Guidelines for Business Conduct; * Participating in, and contributing to, discussions and meetings involving employees' involuntary separation from the Bank. This involves structuring any settlements and making appropriate recommendations; * Managing the collaborative development of appropriate policies and programs for effective management of our human resources. Included in this area but not limited only to the following would be programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development. * Conduct inquiries when needed to clarify any aspects of a labor relations issue 6. Contribute to the broader HR community and to the effective functioning of the United States HR team by: * Creating an environment conducive to individual development, productivity and achievement, ensuring open lines of communication; * Leading or participating in cross-functional HR working groups and providing input on the design and implementation of all-bank HR programs, policies and procedures to ensure programs meet Stakeholder needs; * Maintaining an awareness of emerging trends and HR best practices and liaise with HR peers, both within and outside of Scotiabank to ensure policies, programs and procedures stay current and market competitive; maintaining a high level of customer focus. Experience & Education: * Minimum of 9 years of relevant HR experience; * Undergraduate degree, preferably with focus on business/human resources or work related experience * Professional HR designation or equivalent work experience * Preferred: experience in Financial services and Wholesale Banking and 3-5 years' experience at a Management level in HR * U.S. subject matter expertise of applicable U.S. laws and regulations The incumbent must have/develop the following experience and skills to be successful: * Strong understanding of the assigned stakeholder groups from a business and organizational perspective including matrix relationships and geographies; * Good knowledge of the Global Human Resources function and each area's business objectives, U.S.policies/ regulations and internal operating environment; * Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Bank's Human Resources policies and procedures including the Bank's Global Mobility policies and guidelines; * Thorough understanding of the Bank's Leadership strategy; * Strong business acumen/fluency (Wholesale Banking/Capital Markets) to be able to align business objectives and HR strategies with corporate goals to maximize shareholder value; * Excellent relationship building, influencing and customer service skills to build effective partnerships with GBM business line management, GBM HR and other key partners, having the ability to work with all levels of management; * Results focused with the ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations to sometimes complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues; * Intuitive and forward thinking with strong communication and presentation skills; * Strong organizational and project management skills and proven ability to successfully deliver / implement / execute initiatives, processes and policies. * Proficient computing skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Horizon, Global Talent Management System, and the Global Compensation Planning Tools.
