Job Description

The Senior CAD Technician in the organization oversees and provides project drawing production. They are responsible for ensuring quality and quantity standards and will have an advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The Senior CAD Technician works within general policies and procedures and practices significant independent judgment to choose proper actions.

Reports to: Senior Vice President with direct supervision from Senior Designer.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Works independently to create base maps, drawings, and designs for residential and commercial projects, including:

o Drawing setup for preliminary and construction plan sets, including sheet layout, setup of both model space and paper space, and managing xrefs.

o Incorporate redlines and design provided by Project Managers.

o Create preliminary and construction plan sets, including:

• Preliminary plat plans

• Horizontal control plans

• Grading plans

• Erosion control plans

• Drainage plans

• Sewer plans

• Water plans

• Details and notes

• Proposed and existing road profiles and sections

• Profile existing and proposed utilities

• Final plats and topographic maps

• Produce drawing packages for submittals.

• Setup and maintain styles and standards for Civil 3D.

• Work closely with Project

• Administrate company CAD standar

• Manage detail libraries including creating, modifying, and cataloging current and new company details.

• Jurisdictional research of standard plans, notes, and details.

• Responsible for maintaining organization of all project files.

• Assists with identifying production workload.

• Assist in training and supervision of CAD and graphics personnel.

• Assist in maintaining CAD standards.

• Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of graphics and CAD engineering plans.

• Maintains records and composes correspondence related to production.

Skills and Specifications

• Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

• Ability to perform civil engineering design such as site layout, grading, erosion control, road profiles, utility plans, etc. with little input from Project Managers and Senior Designer/CAD Manager.

• Knowledge of municipal and state design standards.

• Has the ability to take high quality notes and organize information.

• Exceptional supervisory skills.

Education, Experience, Qualifications

• Associates' degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as architectural, engineering, surveying or construction management, or experience considered sufficient to address the demands of the position.

• Civil 3D experience required.

• Minimum 10+ years' experience in CAD with increasing responsibility.

• Minimum 6+ years' experience in civil engineering field.

• Minimum 2+ years' supervision of staff and project production experience.

• Experience working with local municipalities including King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties a plus.

Physical Considerations

• Ability to operate standard office equipment, such as personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, and calculator.

• Ability to perform repetitive, finer hand and arm movements.

• Work activities involve combination of sitting for longer periods and intermittent standing/walking.
