Senior Cable Technician

Lead a team of cable technicians installing telecommunications infrastructure. Employee will need to be able to supervise a team in providing installation services for various types of cable plant infrastructure including but not limited to: twisted pair, coaxial, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, single and multi mode fiber optical cable. Installations include placement, termination, grounding and bonding, testing, labeling and documentation. Majority of work will be carried out for the Department of Defense.

  • Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone & other ISP and OSP cables (CAT5e, CAT6, single and multimode Fiber)

  • Must be capable of installing cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, j-hooks, d-rings)

  • Must be able to complete the following tasks: dressing and routing of cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets

  • Ability to supervise cabling team during installation to ensure all requirements are met for the project

  • Must be familiar with ANSI/EIA/TIA standards, national electrical code, BICSI best practices as well as national and state environmental, health and safety codes (OSHA).

  • Required to exert heavy physical effort at times including carrying of loads up and down stairs and on ladders

  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs

  • Must be able to work from heights as this job requires candidate to be on scissor lifts, boom lifts ladders, scaffolding and rooftops

  • Must be able to work in various locations in noisy and dusty (dirty) conditions: chemicals & solvents, mechanical, electrical and other hazards typical to cable plant infrastructure

Qualifications:

  • Years of experience: 3-5 years

  • Certifications preferred: BICSI installer II Certification

  • Boom and lift operator qualified preferred

  • Confined space certified

  • Clearance requirements: DoD Secret

  • Education: High School Diploma
