As a Senior Cable Harness Technician, you will join our Stretch Team as a cable fabrication expert. Every day, you will use equipment such as crimp tooling, cable strippers, and soldering irons to build, rout, cut, crimp and/or solder wire harnesses and cables, assemble systems and install various components. Additionally, you will inspect assemblies, coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure required parts and tools are readily available, and collaborate with the design team to solve challenges. You will plan and execute cable build and rework activities to support test stands, prototype builds, and production success as we continue to scale our robot fleet into a worldwide commercially available product. To thrive in this role, you must be a self-motivated individual with a willingness to take ownership and responsibility for assigned work. Automotive harness experience is required.

Day to day activities:

  • Assemble and rework cable harnesses following engineering documentation with minimal guidance.

  • Inspect/test finished products for defects and document findings.

  • Debug failures and recommend corrective actions to design engineers.

  • Operate equipment such as crimping machines, cable strippers and soldering irons.

  • Maintain production machines and equipment to ensure the production area is safe to work, productive and has required inventory.

  • Coordinate work space layout and project timelines with managers and engineers to ensure we have the environment and equipment necessary to accomplish project goals.

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted

Desired Skills:

  • At least 3+ years of experience constructing cable harnesses for high volume automotive applications

  • Previous experience with basic electronic hand-tools (wire strippers, cutters, and/or soldering iron)

  • Formal training in IPC/WHMA-A-620 (including hands on qualification) or equivalent preferred

  • Be able to multitask, and change priorities quickly as needed

  • Proven track record as an independent problem solver
