Responsible for leading a team through research, design, and development of embedded software/firmware systems, in conjunction with hardware product development.
Design and implement software for real-time embedded systems. Perform design simulations and capture design specifications.
Apply principles and techniques of software development, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mathematical analysis to daily tasking.
Analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Consult with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software/firmware with consideration for operational performance requirements of the overall system.
Mentor and coach junior engineers.
Develop project plans, provide technical oversight, design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment.
Develop and direct software systems testing procedures, programming and documentation. Perform wireless systems integration and testing.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Execution of software development process in CMMI Level 3 environment.
Develop code according to coding guidelines and division-defined software development processes.
Provide unit testing of software/firmware.
Perform software/firmware component integration.
Participate in and lead code reviews.
Identify, track and repair software/firmware defects.
Support continuous improvement, process innovation and lessons learned activities.
BSEE, BSCS, BSCE required, and a minimum of 6 years relevant software experience with embedded firmware and embedded software development to include the following:
Proficiency with C/C++ programming language and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) required.
Experience with software emulators/debuggers required.
Proficiency with multi-threaded design and/or real-time operating systems is required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with wireless communications systems is highly preferred.
Knowledge or familiarity with JTRS Radio and Waveform Development concepts, SATCOM waveforms, IP Networking and Wireless Networking, GPP Development concepts; experience in C/ C++ development; CORBA and embedded distributed systems.
Experience with flash file systems, XML, networking protocols and/or Ethernet switching.
Knowledge of IP Networking and Wireless Networking desirable.
Experience with DOORS.
Masters degree desired.
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Demonstrated leadership and broad knowledge of project management
