Purpose of Position
The Senior Buyer is responsible for obtaining materials, products and services from suppliers that meet Hennessey's quality, delivery, and cost requirements. This role is responsible for providing procurement support and coverage on spend categories, ensuring competitive cost sourcing of quality goods and services. The Senior Buyer is also responsible for commodity leadership, strategy, and implementation of key procurement processes within assigned commodities / categories, ensuring key procurement objectives are met.
Scope and Impact of Position Responsibilities
This position significantly impacts Hennessy Industries and will be used as path to other positions within Supply Chain/Procurement.
Act as Hennessy's primary interface for its customers in communication to suppliers
Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of assigned suppliers and capabilities
Negotiate and implement long term supply agreements including pricing, VMI, stocking agreements, payment terms, and blanket order agreements to maximize working capital turnover
Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supplies that meet the quality, delivery, cost, service, and performance standards of Hennessy
Develop and deploy creative sourcing strategies and innovative procurement processes to aid business performance
Identify funnel projects with future potential savings and resources required to execute
Develop, execute, and analyze requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with quality, delivery, and cost objectives
Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives (PPV, VAVE, inventory reduction, etc.) to meet and exceed Hennessy's objectives
Assess and communicate supplier performance and develop risk mitigation plans as needed
Reduce/optimize complexity of supply chain to support domestic as well as global requirements
Work cross functionally to execute continuous improvement objectives and process (ECN's) Engineering change notices as needed
Resolve and prevent invoice discrepancies with accounts payable and suppliers

Background and Skill
BS degree (Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or Logistics preferred) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Minimum 5 years in Procurement, Purchasing, or Sourcing role; preferably in a manufacturing environment
Experience sourcing Mechanical, Electromechanical, and Electronics commodities preferred
Experience sourcing from Low Cost Regions preferred
Strong leadership and project management experience with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions with track record of delivered results
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts
Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing and a basic understanding of the materials and supply chain management functions
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to forge internal customer and external supplier relationships
Well-developed written and verbal communication, listening and presentation skills
Intermediate to advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office suite and other work-related software: Excel
