The Senior Buyer Level C- Floor Console Components, and Decorative Trim will be a global commodity leader and responsible for all NAFTA region purchasing for all vehicle programs. These components are evolving with use of lightweight manufacturing processes and new product features that are critical to customer satisfaction in JD Power and Consumer Reports. Decorative trim includes highly detailed crafted materials such as wood, aluminum, chrome and surface treatments such as hydro graphics and multi-layer painting. A leader with experience in team building will enjoy the opportunity to develop and launch a new Decorative Trim strategy and process. Some travel will be required to understand and evaluate suppliers and to meet with other regional FCA Purchasing teams to develop and follow global sourcing strategies.

The core responsibilities of a Senior Buyer are the development, ownership, and execution of full lifecycle commodity strategies which include but are not limited to:

  • Leading all aspects of the commercial relationship with the supply base and internal customers including sourcing process/budget management, benchmarking, supplier relations, Purchase Order issuance/maintenance, supply/delivery, cost savings, economic claim negotiations, etc.

  • Leading regional and global supplier development and cross-functional communications with suppliers using a "One Voice" approach

  • Leading a cross-functional team including partners from: Product Design Office, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Supplier Quality and Finance

  • Frequent professional communication with senior leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • You have completed a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or closely related field from an ABET accredited university

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of purchasing or closely related relevant experience.

  • You have strong communication skills and are highly customer focused

  • You are great at leading cross-functional teams

  • You have a strong fluency with MS Office Suite/G Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience in managing new technology

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS Education:Bachelors Degree in Engineering Experience:5+ years of experience in automotive exterior trim engineering Skills: * Strong Leadership skills – External (Customer) and Internal. * Team oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills * Strong customer communication skills * Strong skills in engineering of plastic injection molded parts * Strong skills in engineering of extruded aluminum and plastic parts * Working knowledge of plastic exterior trim design requirements and manufacturing processes * Good mechanical aptitude, reasoning and problem solving skills * Experience with analytical methods of design such as DFSS * Skills in Catia V5 and/or UG NX5.0+ considered and asset but not required * Strong understanding of GD&T principles * Ability to coordinate activities with design resources across multiple facilities * Ability to manage multiple products and tasks as required to meet demanding customer deadlines * Familiarity with General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, VW and/or other OEM APQP processes are an asset Dura Automotive Systems Auburn Hills MI
