Bulletproof is looking for a Senior Buyer with a strong CPG background to help us build a world-class company and grow our knowledge base.
As the Senior Buyer you will work closely with product, R&D, supply planning, finance, and a wide range of external vendors to drive strategy formation, approval, and execution across assigned raw and packaging materials. Selecting and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, reducing cost, and scaling to meet the aggressive goals of Bulletproof. In addition to delivering the business goals, you will work across the organization to build processes that will act as a foundation for the procurement of items for the organization. You will have a proven track record in delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. You will have strong business acumen, be comfortable interfacing with various functional teams, have a passion for developing and implementing processes in an ambiguous problem space, and be willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver results that will significantly impact Bulletproof. The ideal candidate needs to have strong and proven communication, leadership, and influencing skills. Successful leaders at Bulletproof are hands-on, results oriented, collaborative, and able to deliver innovative solutions with little to no supervision and guidance. Excellent verbal and written and communication skills will be critical to the success of this position. This role can be located in Seattle, WA or Denver, CO.
The Senior Buyer is responsible for ensuring that high quality materials are available to Bulletproof at the expected time, in the expected quantities and at the expected costs. Functional responsibilities include planning, procurement, and cost reductions for low to medium complexity materials, including off the shelf and semi-custom components.
Utilizing updated product requirements forecast and MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) output, Senior Buyer is responsible for planning component purchases to support the manufacturing plan while maintaining optimal inventory levels. This includes responsibility for ensuring accuracy of the vendor part master and vendor lead time data in the company's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
Responsible for obtaining quotes and negotiating with suppliers where appropriate in order to obtain fair pricing for high quality ingredients and packaging materials that meet Bulletproof standards.
Responsible for purchase order entry in the ERP system, placing orders with suppliers, and working with suppliers to ensure on-time receipts.
Evaluates supplier reliability and works with suppliers on continuous improvement.
Assists in developing new supplier sources where suppliers are inadequate or when new suppliers / technologies are required.
Provides input to future supplier rating system.
Inventory Management; Provides input pertaining to the disposition of inventory during the MRB (Material Review Board) process.
Obtains RMA's (Return Material Authorizations) from suppliers and assists in preparing materials to be returned. Provides input pertaining to excess and obsolete material.
Monitors receiving activity and works with suppliers to ensure the orderly receipt of goods and services delivered to the company. Includes responsibility for working with Quality Assurance to assure the timely flow of product through QC inspection processes as well as the appropriate disposition of non-conforming materials.
Budgetary/Financial; Responsible for monitoring and reporting of various financial metrics related to purchasing.
An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience is required.
Buyer and/or Planner experience - particularly in the manufacture of food or supplements. (3 to 5 years or more) including:
Knowledge and experience in the utilization of ERP systems and planning tools.
Knowledge and experience in Bill of Material structures and component specifications.
Purchasing skills to include obtaining quotes and negotiations.
Purchase order entry skills, knowledge of receiving transactions and return to vendor transactions.
Inventory management knowledge to include knowledge of various inventory transactions.
Familiar with Accounts Payable transactions and invoice handling
Strong collaboration, team building, and development skills.
Experience with cost analysis tools and financial concepts
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Strong MS Office skills.
Experience NetSuite or similar ERP system is preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specifications and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, specifications, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. The ability to clearly and concisely convey project accomplishments, obstacles, issues, and project status.
