The Senior Business Systems Analysts provides a thorough examination of customer need with respect to business process and data identifying functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions throughout the entire system development life cycle. Create a strong partnership with business and technical teams to prototype and deliver application solutions with respect to value, quality and end-user experience. Develop subject matter expertise in foundation data, application and platform functionality and features. Provides customers a conduit to engage in technology discussions about their applications. Reports to: Deputy Director, Investment and CRM Applications

Core Responsibilities

  • Apply deep functional domain expertise and a strong methodology to help guide solution options analysis, working closely with both business and technical teams, with consideration of both technical and non-technical implications and trade-offs

  • Develop decision-making criteria and facilitation of decision process, including presentation and discussions with senior leadership

  • Own story epics, user story generation, confirmation of acceptance criteria and required signoff's

  • Data Analysis, including research, schema design, source to target mapping and quality/consistency verification, application/platform/integration impact assessments based on data, technology and/or business logic changes

  • Organize or lead prototype development, participate in demos & user acceptance reviews, work with technical leads on the creation of design documents and artifacts

  • Work closely with QA to ensure system is built and configured to requirements and design specification, coordinate the development of the test plan, test cases and facilitation of UAT

  • May design, configure and support 3rd party cloud hosted applications

  • May drive the project management or scrum master smaller projects, take lead responsibility for analysis work streams within projects of significant size or impact

  • Key partner in communications for project owners and project managers, assisting with development of content and delivery of project communications and stakeholder management.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to communicate to multiple levels of the organization and with non-technical partners to derive technical requirements and priorities

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to arbitrate and objectively evaluate competing requests across the enterprise

  • Adept at taking a strategic viewpoint and applying critical thinking skills

  • Familiarity with custom development, packaged products implementation, systems integration and cloud-hosted solutions

  • Business requirement elicitation techniques, options prioritization and analysis, translation to technical functional and non-functional requirements, solution design, test planning, change management, vendor management

  • Develop conceptual data models and translate these to logical models

  • Subject-matter expertise in integrating, configuring technologies from multiple vendors

  • Ability to create clear strategies, policies, procedures and system documentation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Able to adjust work-style and communication to match team or audience, especially when working with non-technical resources.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time

  • Ability to facilitate small teams, guiding work delivery and quality

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.

  • Participation on large, distributed project teams.

  • Project delivery within an agile development methodology.

  • Design, development and/or support for global enterprise business applications.

  • Experience working on a Salesforce platform strongly preferred. Configuration experience preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of data modeling concepts and querying relational databases.

VIEW JOBS 4/5/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-04T00:00 Hours: Full Time; Monday - Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm Location: The Polyclinic 1145 Broadway POSITION OBJECTIVE: The IT Business Systems Analyst works as part of a team and is accountable for supporting and improving existing applications, as well as implementing new applications with significant complexity. These applications include a variety of business and clinical applications, many of which are relied upon by staff throughout the organization. The analyst will support the full project lifecycle of our projects, including business analysis, documentation, testing, project coordination and customer support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Interacts with internal departments to understand new or changing application requirements. * Analyzes operational workflow and existing system functionality, to identify and implement application changes to accomplish the desired business capabilities. * Performs assessments of project requests and coordinates a cross-functional effort to define solutions and evaluate vendors for small and mid-sized initiatives. * Administers applications to ensure they are correctly configured and support internal customer needs. * Responds promptly to customer issues and provide timely resolution of these problems. * Manages time effectively and balances the need to complete both operational support tasks and project assignments. * Provides support for the existing interfaces between applications, ensuring that any errors are remediated in a timely way. The analyst will also be responsible for working with the application vendors to enhance these interfaces or to create new interfaces. * Acts as an IT subject matter expert (SME) for multiple business and clinical areas and their associated applications. * Mentors others to develop their skills and knowledge of applications and processes. * Applies expertise to solve problems, even when it involves areas or systems that are unfamiliar. * Coordinates the work involved with upgrading business and clinical applications. This includes working with internal customers, vendors and other IT departments. * Project Manager for small projects that have moderate complexity and involve a small project team with staff from multiple teams. * Effectively fosters and manages vendor relationships, knowing how and when to escalate issues. * Follows established standards and procedures, and thoroughly documents standard work for supported processes and applications. * Thinks broadly and continually improves processes and applications across different areas of IT, helping improve quality, efficiency and satisfaction for business and clinical staff. * Ensures the quality of systems by developing test cases, performing and/or coordinating testing and reporting on test results. Works effectively with others to resolve issues identified through the testing process. * While working on small projects, the analyst will perform the full range of project lifecycle activities. This typically involves some or all of the following: business and workflow analysis, requirements definition, documentation, testing, go-live planning, project coordination and customer support. * On larger and more complex projects, works under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Business Systems Analyst and focuses on select tasks such as analysis or testing. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in an information technology related field or equivalent work experience * Four or more years of experience in Information Technology or related field Skills: * Effective communication methods to elicit information from customers to understand needs or to resolve issues. * Must be able to communicate in a non-technical manner, but also comfortable to diving into the technical details when appropriate. * Effective leading working sessions, meetings and presenting to small and mid-sized groups. * Quickly learns and develops new skills when provided guidance and/or instruction. * Ability to work well and interact with others. * Must be able to work independently, with limited guidance from manager. * Ability to handle pressure and rapidly changing priorities. * Can handle most conflicts independently, with only limited assistance from manager. * Good critical thinking skills. Adept at working to understand an issue and determine the information needed to resolve the problem, even if working in an unfamiliar area. * Ability to separate problems into components and recognize underlying patterns and processes. * Industry knowledge of best practices related to requirements analysis, testing, project management and other related disciplines.
