The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York is looking for a Senior Business Research & Development Specialist to join the Membership and Research team. This role will be responsible to research, collect, synthesize and summarize data related to the Banks Business Lines as well as the competitive environment, mainly the wholesale funding market and conduct special projects for Management, Members, Strategy and the Board of Directors.
Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Spearhead the competitive analysis effort. Track competitor rates and strategies and prepare the weekly pricing sheet. Identify emerging trends and potential new competitors. Develop reports to convey results for internal and external use highlighting the competitive landscape. These are business plan initiatives.
Manage the growth effectiveness initiatives for the Sales & Marketing Group including tracking results and preparing charts for usage by the ALMC, Board and MC. This task is tied to bank-wide incentive compensation and is highly visible within the organization. These results are also reported in various such as Strategic plan monitoring, the monthly ALMC Super Tuesday Report and the monthly board memo
Responsible for drafting the yearly Bank-wide Growth Effectiveness goal, which is one of the inputs used to determine yearly incentive compensation metrics.
Strategize with Chief Business Officer, Director of Member Relations and Director of Sales and Marketing in formulating the proper weightings and measurements to determine Threshold, Target and Max metrics for New and returned borrowers, Market share, New Members and Average Daily Advance Balance projections.
Quarterback the departmental Business Development Framework Initiative in order to capture and measure the success of the efforts and activities utilized by the Sales and Marketing Department, Responsibilities include but are not limited to defining the intended objectives and report on the activities that will promote success across the three business development initiatives by identifying the needs of our members as they relate to each initiative to selectively market to those needs in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
Provide business research and market analysis for use in presentations to senior management and the Board of Directors. Prepare major studies of different industry segments to be used in both internal and external presentations.
Represent Sales & Marketing on the Strategic Planning Committee to help develop and track the three year Strategic Plan in 2018. Contribute to other strategic planning efforts on an ad hoc basis including assisting in the preparation of the advance forecast.
Development of targeted member research through the incorporation of focus groups, market surveys, member questionnaires and other methods.
Synthesize customer data from various databases, both internal and external, to identify customer and market-related trends and relationships to support prospecting, bank marketing, business/product development activities.
Responsible for assessing the Bank's competitive environment (e.g. members, regional economics, demographics, and business conditions) and competitor tactical actions by keeping abreast of current issues within the markets, industry and banking system.
Prepare member reviews, orientation presentations, financial reports, and other sales-related documents. Ensure that all data are up to date, and revise queries as needed. Author and maintain detailed written procedures for the production of all essential reports.
Use internal and external databases (e.g. SNL, EIS, CAMS) to obtain institution-specific financial data, regulatory information, and historic levels for advance balances, market rates, economic indices, funding levels, etc.
Author how-to guides and frequently asked questions documents both for internal use and distribution to members and prospects. Coordinate the branding, production, and distribution of these items with the Marketing group.
Undergraduate degree required. MBA in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), database queries and data management. Excellent analytical, organizational, research, writing and presentation skills required. Detail oriented, with strong communication and project management skills.
Minimum of five plus years in research or analytical position. Experience in banking, capital markets or other financial services industry preferred.
