Swedish is calling a Senior Business Office Biller (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work at Metropolitan Park East in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a Senior Business Office Biller to be responsible for preparation, editing and submission of accurate and timely insurance claims (electronic and manual) to third-party payers. Claims process includes reconciling claim runs, creating electronic claim files, and resolving errors. Resolve claims editing issues and interact with third party clearinghouse or the claims scrubber vendor to produce clean claims.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities

  • Ensure that the insurance claims and documentation meet the standards established by Swedish and external regulatory agencies.

  • Integrate new and changing legal requirements into current procedures in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Ensure efficient and accurate billing process inclusive of claim editing and submission.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining an up-to-date policy and procedure manual to properly guide the billing staff. Reviews and improves work procedures and performance so that the most productive and efficient methods are being used.

  • Work collaboratively with other Revenue Cycle departments to improve billing processes.

  • Mentor and coach other billing staff; acts in a super user capacity when implementing new billing processes or technology.

  • Interact with third party organizations related to claims processing.

  • Prioritize and organize workload based on department guidelines

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Coursework/Training in Medical terminology and medical coding training in an accredited school or equivalent on-the-job training in a billing role

  • 2 years hospital insurance billing, including Medicare and Medicaid and private insurance billing experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Business Management or health care administration.

  • A strong technical background including experience with automated systems.
