The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our team at Mass General Brigham. This position will be responsible for designing and maintaining solutions that support revenue cycle operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with Epic data model, SQL, and Tableau. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the revenue cycle team and play a key role in improving operational efficiency and financial performance.

The successful candidate will form relationships with leadership by becoming the go-to guide for data within their designated areas of expertise. The developer will collaborate their team members and more junior developers to ensure that appropriate technical and analytical solutions are provided to understand key business drivers including patient volume and reimbursement trends tied to financial performance through comprehensive reports, interactive dashboards, and ad hoc reporting tools

Role Duties

  • Develop business intelligence solutions including financial analysis, revenue cycle reporting, and visually appealing dashboards.

  • Gather requirements and provide technical guidance and support throughout the development process.

  • Mentor and support junior-level developers with reporting, analysis, ad-hoc reporting and good methodology for development, design, and architecture.

  • Takes initiative on optimally leading/driving team projects from start to finish as assigned

  • Provide technical and business knowledge support to the team and external groups. Assume role of a domain expert in specific financial reporting areas and Epic workflows. Provide consultation and act as team lead on large scale projects.

  • Develop SQL queries and data models to extract data from Epic and other sources and transform it into relevant insights and analytics.

  • Create and maintain Tableau dashboards that deliver useful insights.

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that automate the data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process.

  • Test and validate the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the data and reports.

  • Document the design, development, and testing of the solutions.

  • Provide technical support by identifying and solving technical and data issues and providing user training.

  • Coordinates IT related activities (software upgrade, downtime) between the business office and external application teams (Cognos, Epic, central data analytics organization).

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in BI development, data analytics, and data modeling.

  • Experience with Epic data models and Clarity data warehouse preferred.

  • Experience with Tableau, including creating reports and dashboards, developing data sources, and administering Tableau Server is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS or Informatica.

  • Experience with the healthcare revenue cycle, including patient access, billing, coding, and reimbursement
